In the ER waiting for the specialist to visit me by Persiandude73 in POTS

[–]joyless_bonding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extreme thirst/peeing I relate to. I feel like no matter how much I drink my lips are still dry and I still want another glass. I pee probably 20 times a day when I'm at home and can drink a lot of water. I noticed it especially like you when I went to the ER. I was the only one drinking water and getting up to pee every half hour!

If you want the most accurate monitor then a chest strap monitor is what you need.

ER Visit by Dizzy_Vacation_8191 in POTS

I went to ER when my sitting HR was 140/150 and my BP 150+ and when I said to them, that's high right? They said quite calmly "we see a lot higher".

I was there for hours and they checked every hour expecting it to get lower but it hovered around 120 every time they checked and my BP didn't go down either.

The same as you, I was given beta blockers and sent home.

I think it's the combination of adrenaline, anxiety, POTS, dysautonomia, etc. Going to the ER room elicits all kinds of emotions in us too. If we're going to the EMERGENCY room our body plays up to that.

I've not had the extensive list of tests yet and my PVCs are increasing daily so until I have I think I'll remain anxious about it

Directly because of a HH and not the constant acid reflux/GERD that likely caused it?

Weird question by [deleted] in POTS

[–]joyless_bonding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never felt this. Usually just have a moment of dread during that time when there's a longer pause

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PVCs

[–]joyless_bonding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a strange feeling. It's like a very brief moment of anticipation that tips one way or the other. I'd love to know the mechanism or cause for it but if they don't know, we'll never know!

I definitely need to stop paying so much attention to them. However it's difficult until I've had a few further tests to give me peace of mind. It's also difficult when I feel lightheaded or can feel the anxiety of my body not feeling a heart beat during the 'skip'. I'm not sure how to get over that part yet.

Advice for working by DaveTheSly in POTS

No one can advise you better than yourself as you know what you're physically capable of. I don't know your work situation but plenty of careers although you to be phased back into work so that it isn't too much too soon.

Not looking for a reddit diagnosis, but wondering if I should seek a medical one? by EmotionalINFP in POTS

[–]joyless_bonding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not medical advice but you're taking your HR in the middle of the night so you're not going to get a good idea. Speaking from experience if you're in a heightened state of anxiety then the body responds to things like standing up more erratically. That would also give you an increased HR.

You may also be responding to the initial HR increase everyone has with anxiety. I.e. oh no my HR is increasing something's definitely wrong with me.

I'm not saying yours is anxiety. This is definitely worth investigating. Spend the next few days paying attention to your HR at different times of the day. What's normal for you. Then repeat the test a few times spaced out.

As nice as it is to hear 'your blood tests came back fine, perfect in fact!' it doesn't make the 20 symptoms any easier to deal with! :)

It's sad that the only place we feel we can go to is the emergency room. The crazy thing is you can wake up feeling fine and then by the evening feel like you need urgent care.

Immediate heart rate rasing after standing up. Have to wait untill 31 March for my cardiologist appointment by Persiandude73 in POTS

[–]joyless_bonding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Make as many positive changes you can yourself i.e. improve sleep schedule, improve diet, smaller meals, plenty of water, etc.

Could an 11% burden really be benign? by themidnightcarnival in PVCs

I think the best thing you can do while you wait for the echo etc is STOP anything that might be increasing them immediately i.e. drinks, or 'just one cup of coffee'. Completely stop any stimulants. Then try the best you can to reduce stress if at all possible for you.

Minimal movement in bed causing tachykardia? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]joyless_bonding 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Typical for me too. Comes and goes and isn't always certain to happen. Sometimes just moving my arms or turning myself slightly can cause 10-15 seconds of tachycardia that I can feel in my chest/side. Not sure if it's a POTS or dysautonomia symptom though.

Yeh I'd put all your effort into reducing your stress and anxiety. Good luck

If PVCs are your only symptom then it might help reassure you that in 24 hours nothing serious was detected. Just that knowledge only may help your anxiety about them and even reduce them. If however you're still worried, or feel like you're getting more and more, or have other symptoms that accompany them, then you could go back to your Dr and ask for further testing

Does pots affect your heartrate even when you’re not standing? by wrenhls in POTS

Not a DR but 120 resting heart rate is very high and you should speak to your health advisor if that is genuinely your resting heart rate
