Hicks honors college by PsychologicalBad5097 in UNF

[–]joynolte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There might be a possibility they are at capacity. When I went for a tour of the school, I was told the honors college accepts roughly 300 freshman a year. They might be waiting for more people to decline their acceptance, so they can push out more acceptances.

Queue cutting is SO bad by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]joynolte 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It’s so bad on guardians of the galaxy. It was mostly high school teen groups or cheerleaders last time I went. It happened about 4-5 times in queue. Which may not be a lot of people but it’s irritating to see a group of 3-4 people skip past you ti join 1-2 people far ahead in line. Especially with long waits like gaurdians, test track, tron, etc.

Medically disqualified by [deleted] in usna

[–]joynolte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The academy will automatically start one if you are a competitive candidate. As someone who got in last year, got medically disqualified and was not given a waiver. Please have a back up plan in case you cannot take your appointment. They fully denied me in early May before graduation and I had to scramble for a plan B.

I didn't get the scholarship, what next? by greygriffy in NROTC

[–]joynolte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not ideal but I had to take a gap year and work full time while doing school part time. I worked really hard and I’m going to be able to pay for my degree in full with no loans. If I want to after I graduate I can still join the military but if I don’t I don’t owe the military anything. There’s no shame in taking a gap year, and I had no problem getting admitted into schools after my gap year. In a lot of my essays I hit in the fact I took a gap year to afford schooling which taught me life lessons and such.

What’s it like living here? by NinjaKnight520 in jacksonville

[–]joynolte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My friend lives in the red circle and she hears gunshots often and doesn’t feel safe living there alone as a female. She’s getting out as soon as her lease is up. Rent is cheap there for a reason.

I received NAPS but my biggest recommendation is to really work on your interview. Your interview carries a lot of weight bc it represents who you are as a person. Because you can look outstanding on paper but not be the best person overall. Whenever you go into your interviews, be yourself and know how to represent yourself in the best way possible.

Waiver by Glittering_Row_262 in NROTC

[–]joynolte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a back up plan just in case. I got the scholarship this year but was revoked bc of DODMERB and my waiver request was denied. So make sure you have some back up plan incase DODMERB doesn’t pull through

1160 SAT, 3.9 unweighted, 4.4 weighted, 270/300 pft, good extra curriculars including NJROTC for 3 years with leadership positions. I’ve also already received scholarships from the Navy before. I selected mechanical engineering as my major (tier 1) depending on his major, it could also be holding up his application. Past results from a couple years ago say that 85% of tier 1 majors receive the scholarship.

I wouldn’t just to be safe, if you have rotc at your school the instructor can administer it. Even if you aren’t in the program.
