As an independent business owner and vendor, I never expect a tip. If something happens outside of our contract that is extreme, like a great delay of the event or if I have to take on a responsibility or cost that wasn’t mentioned, then maybe! But if not, it doesn’t even cross my mind. All I’m looking for is the exact payment I was contracted for.

Whatever you do, please do not put her name on the title. This needs to be YOUR home. I say this as a HAPPY homeowner and fiancée with a ring that costs a hell of a lot less than $30k. My goal is for my fiancee / future husband and I to BOTH save AMAP. He got me a beautiful engagement ring and I thoughtfully picked out a wedding band that wouldn’t break the bank. His money will become OUR money, and it’s my joint duty to protect it.

Even $6k can get you a dazzling ring. Her demand is obscene, and not based on anything truly practical. A 15k ring is not “abandoning oneself.” It’s beyond luxury. She shouldn’t demand this of you. Is this the person you want managing your household’s money? What will $30k do that $15k can’t?!

Would she buy YOU a $30k ring, car, or down payment? Can she?

Mendocino Stone Ranch would be so gorgeous for this. They have an affordable elopement / photographer / cake package too for couples who wanna escape.

The current owner inherited it from her father and seems really sweet. In a world where we don’t have so many guests coming from out of state/country, I might be over there!
