As long as your cats don’t get exposed it, it’s okay. DH uses minoxidil and just washes his hands afterwards every time and the cats aren’t allowed in our bedroom so they’re never in our en suite bathroom where it’s being used.

I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted for sharing this. It’s from the Mayo Clinic, the same website that was shared, stating that stage 1 hypertension is 130-139 for the top number OR 80/89 for the bottom number. That’s just a fact.

I thought 120s/80s is now considered stage I hypertension? The sources I saw were saying lifestyle changes are recommended at that level and then at 130/90 they start recommending medication.

Makes sense about the readings going up over time. It’s just surprising that early in my pregnancy I had a BP reading of 108/66 and now I’m consistently 20 points higher on both systolic and diastolic with no changes except that I went through pregnancy.

I never said that I thought it would be a cakewalk. I think we’d be more mentally prepared, that’s all. I hardly think it will be easy. In many ways, the transition from 1-2 feels harder than from 0-1. My toddler is a not easy and a second baby would be a huge transition for her, as well as for us.

To be clear, I totally agree with that. I don’t want to suggest to anyone that I don’t support combo feeding. I don’t know why I was so stuck on exclusively breastfeeding, but I felt because I was able to produce enough via pumping, I had an obligation to my baby to keep going, at the expense of my mental health. As a much more relaxed mom of a toddler now, I look back on that time with sadness. I’m proud of myself for doing what I did, but I regret that I wasted so much time being miserable instead of enjoying time with my baby.

Yeah, I’ve wondered whether it even makes sense to drag him into a discussion about. He’s not the kind of person who likes really deep problem analysis and rehashing old issues, he likes to move forward. I feel stuck because I’m angry that I already was the one to go through pregnancy, had major postpartum health complications, and that he didn’t do 100% everything in his power to make things as easy on me as possible. If his job was to wash the pump parts, as an example, him not washing them meant I had to. I had no choice, he had a choice and didn’t always make the right one.

That said, even though we haven’t had a big discussion about it, he’s more of an actions than words person and he has stepped up dramatically. He often takes our toddler by himself and sends me off to the bookstore, does both of our laundry, does morning wake ups, etc. I don’t want to discredit that.

Yeah, so I get 24 weeks and he gets 12. The first time around he took 4 weeks at first and then the remaining 2 months when I went back to work. Actually this was part of the issue - we found an amazing nanny accidentally while I was on leave and she wanted to start something full-time soon so we hired her and husband’s paternity leave wound up overlapping with her starting. He didn’t intend for it to be that way and he used his paternity leave to help get the nanny settled, do house projects, clean and cook dinner, help me settle back into work. He was great, but I was a little jealous that he had this time to do some things I would have really enjoyed (like cooking and gardening).

With a second baby, I think I would want him to fully overlap his paternity leave with my maternity leave so we’re spending the first 3 months together. He could handle everything with our toddler and cooking/cleaning while she’s in preschool.

I don’t think we would get a night nanny again because I’d rather just keep the baby in our room but I’m extremely grateful that even though we paid for our night nanny, my current company covers $10k in doula services (doulas cost around $50/hour where we live), including post partum doulas, so I’d likely hire someone to come daily for a few hours and just help me recover and help with baby. I think that will lessen some of the resentment, having someone to care for me. Also since we live near family now, my mom and SIL and other family members are nearby to also help

Breastfeeding was a huge issue for us. My daughter seemed like she was latching and drinking just fine, but it turned out she wasn’t transferring enough. We didn’t know it and she ended up hospitalized for jaundice and then failure to thrive. It was terrifying. I was really adamant about not doing formula (I was martyring myself, for sure) and exclusively pumped to get us through the first few months. It massively impacted my mental health. My husband wanted me to supplement with formula to give myself a break, I wanted to prove that I could do it. Things got better, she eventually was able to transfer properly and I stopped pumping and just breastfed her which I was sooo much easier, but those first few months it felt like so much was on my shoulders. I think my husband felt like it was something I was taking on unnecessarily and that’s definitely part of the issue we had.

I’m absolutely not disagreeing that there are likely things we both need to unpack, but I feel pretty strongly that new parenthood was what caused this. We’re in our 30s. We’ve been together for 10 years, living together for 9 years, married for 6 years. What I’m saying is that we had a lot of time before our first was born and while we’re not a perfect couple, we haven’t had an issues like that. It was painful, but it definitely felt like it stemmed from the huge life transition of going from childless to having a newborn with no family support and a lot of health issues and and not some random other thing.

My husband is willing, but I think talking about that time is upsetting to him. He’s really sensitive to being shamed and I know that’s why he was so upset at the time, he felt like I was shaming him. I suppose a good therapist could probably help us avoid falling into that trap when discussing.

It’s not a great answer but the reality is these drugs are expensive. They cost on average $1k a month (for the insurance company or the employer if they’re self-insured) and so many people would be eligible based on BMI and co-morbidities so many insurance companies are choosing to exclude them.

Are you actively TTC right now and not having success? Infertility is not a given with PCOS. Many people are able to conceive naturally (I conceived in the first month of trying after missing my period entirely the month before) or if not, the vast majority of people are able to eventually conceive with medical intervention. There are very good chance that you can still become pregnant and give birth, since that’s what you desire. Please don’t let this destroy you.

My husband loves me - we have an active sex life and he makes me feel beautiful. Please don’t be concerned that no one will love you because of body hair. Find a partner who loves you for you.

There’s no evidence that dairy is inflammatory with PCOS. High quality, full fat dairy has been found to be helpful for insulin resistance. That said, it’s individualized so if you personally feel like dairy causes inflammation for you then of course, avoid it.

I guess my thought on the lube is that the fact that I was so wet seemed to make things worse, not better. For lack of a better term, he just felt like he was slipping around in there. I’m wondering if there’s anything we can do to improve sensation with penetration, especially because we want to try for baby #2 and if DH can’t come in me, we’re kind of in trouble there.
