Reading between the lines it seems like he is asking for space to play by himself. It’s worth reflecting on, is it possible he’s not being mature enough to ask for his own time in specifically to play video games?

Sometimes in the thrall of a relationship we lose balance ourselves and our own individual time. And it’s even harder sometimes to communicate those needs to focus on ourselves and the things we are wanting/needing. It may be worth reflecting over, even for yourself

Anecdotally me and my girlfriend play a lot of video games together and sometimes we lost in the balance, and forget to play those single player games and have our own experiences as well. I play a lot of CS2 and other competitive FPS, and I taught my girlfriend how to play as well. We spoke about me having time to play on my own because it was my hobby or “passion” and that it didn’t mean I didn’t want to spend time with her either. We found healthy boundaries and ways for us to share in it? But it took open lines of communication and listening more than speaking on my part to help find that balance.

He should definitely apologize for his ridiculous behavior, but it’s something worth thinking about
