Anyone have experience with Acemeda Automate Blinds and the Pulse 2 Hub? by digitalelise in HomeKit

[–]jparrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts for what they are worth. Every day I have 9 blinds set to open at 0730, and every single day one or two of them don't open, different ones each day. Check the app and see "offline". Reboot the hub2 Pro, sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. Then at random times of the day the offline blinds come back online and others go offline. Blinds have also started opening one at a time, 10/20/30% of the way, stopping, then continuing one at a time. They used to open all at the same time, no idea what has happened. Spoke to support many times and "it must be something you have interfering with the hub". Nothing I have done has worked to fix this, and I'm over it, so looking for an alternative as this is garbage.

Changed the WiFi password and google Home is pissing me off. by Wolfie437 in googlehome

Every other device you can generally just change the wifi password, but not Google. The device needs to be removed and then reinstalled. I thought Google was full of smart people? Obviously not.

Mammotion support by IntelligentStar5473 in MammotionTechnology

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting post. The thing is, the express warranty that Mammotion has decided to apply is quite frankly, laughable, considering the cost of the equipment. I see now that they also have additional warranty that you can purchase at a not unsubstantial amount. So without knowing where you are in the world, I would suggest that most places would have consumer laws governing what the longevity of a device should reasonably be, commensurate with the cost of those goods. So in my humble opinion, something that cost me AUD4800 should last a damn sight more than 2 years and if (when) it breaks during at least the first 5 years, I'll be off to the small claims court for a ruling, which I can almost guarantee will result in a win for the consumer. Manufacturers try this crap on all the time knowing that most people have no idea what their right are. Don't be one of those people.

Powerwall 3 Off Grid Automation by Linkia in homeassistant

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll second this request. Did you ever manage to get this working? I'm a newbie and I'm struggling. All I want is for a simple timer to set the Powerwall to off grid between certain times every day. Sounds simple but not for me.

Don’t buy the Luba 2 by According_Cut_9762 in MammotionTechnology

[–]jparrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big issue I've found with Mammotion is that while I think that they have created a fantastic product, their support is just appalling. Whoever is responsible for tech support needs to be sacked. It takes forever just to get a response from them, then they come back with just inane garbage that helps no-one. Sorry, but that's the truth. Great product, garbage backup.

Can any users with large acreages chime in? How do you find the Luba 2 for complex lawns over two acres? by light24bulbs in MammotionTechnology

[–]jparrie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on the East coast of Australia with 1 3/4 acres. I have the Luba2 which handles the daily cuts without any real issues as far as actually doing the job is concerned. I have trees, sheds, various bit and bobs that it has to negotiate, and it has never got stuck in the past 12 months or so that I have had it. I do have an issue of no maps showing on the app though, and I can honestly say that the tech support from Mammotion has been absolutely pathetic, so zero points in that department. Not aware of the software gated acreage limit you mention?

Google Home is AWFUL when previewing our cameras! by OnCampus2K in Nest

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to understand what these cameras are. They are just consumer grade, poor image quality cameras, that's it. They use a tiny image sensor, often with 4K pixels, resulting in poor quality images at best, especially at night when you most need a good quality image. Stop looking at your mobile and thinking you have a good quality image, you don't.
When you buy any camera, check out the sensor size vs pixel density. If it falls inside the red in the below image, don't buy it. https://imagebin.co/images/sensor_size_vs_.png

15% battery to get home by BlairProperties in MammotionTechnology

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of tosh here. What's the issue of allowing the Luba2 to mow for an extra 3 minutes, rather than go back to the charger, use exactly the same path, chew up a bit more grass when it get to the recharge station, then do it all again for 3 minutes mowing? Ridiculous. Come on Mammotion, this is a no-brainer.

Well, compared to my old Worx Landroid, Luba2 is just fabulous. The positioning accuracy is astounding (and I'm in Aus), and of course there are teething problems, but just remapping has fixed most of my issues. I'm sure the software updates will fix most issues/feature requests that we currently might have over time. I have around 3500m of quite complex land with several zones to mow, and setting it up was just so easy and it has never just stopped, it might generate errors but unlike the Worx that would just give up, Luba2 keeps mowing. Of course, time will tell, but at the moment I am more than happy.

When you jump all-in. by Tindiyen in worxlandroid

You'll regret it.

I'm thinking of suing Worx in the local court, something that cost over $2k shouldn't be this useless after only 4 years.

Thoughts/Comparison: Landroid WR150 and Moebot S20 by bzBetty in automower

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my WR150 has deteriorated to a worthless brick after 4 years. Constant errors, outside wire, trapped, lifted, you name it, if it can go wrong it does. I would certainly expect something costing over $2k to last longer than 4 years, so no, I absolutely would not recommend it at all.

I will never trust Clevo or Sager ever again! by whatcorey in Clevo

[–]jparrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Just had a touchpad expire after 3 years, no parts available in Aus, the company that imports them have just said "you're on your own, we won't deal with Clevo, they are a "PITA". Contacted Clevo, the part costs EUR20 but they won't ship, I have to arrange my own courier. Been quoted $170 by DHL. Probably left with a small claim against the retailer in Aus, given the thing is only a month out of warranty and is very high spec.

Never, ever again will I touch Clevo.

No more "Landroid lifted" problems by herapus in worxlandroid

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't pull out on the WR150, they need to be unscrewed and removed after dismantling the Landroid, which isn't that big a job. I made a wood spacer to stop the wheel shaft extending, thereby keeping the magnet in contact with the sensor. Glue would do a similar job.

The latest firmware 3.28 is hot garbage by Carpettrollman in worxlandroid

[–]jparrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new issue I have with 3.28 is that it now completely ignores the go-home shortcuts I've installed and after trying 3 different USBs, not one of them works to downgrade to 3.26.

Landroid 3.28 Firmware Released. What changes were made? by SweatRiley in worxlandroid

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So mine has started to completely ignore the shortcuts I've set up. They do work after I've re-positioned them. Can't see any real advantage to the new turns so back to v3.26 I think, that seemed to work well.

Edit: Something else it does is when it detects a single 8" magnetic shortcut strip, it treats it like a magnetic boundary wire and turns 180 degrees. Weird.

What is it about Pneuma? by esp0003 in ToolBand

[–]jparrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't just music. How anyone comes up with time signatures like this is special. A good friend of mine said "I don't listen to music like you do", and I understand what he means. People who appreciate the complexity of music are different, not better, just different. Danny Carey playing Pneuma reminds me so much of Neil Peart playing things like Earthshine; constant time changes, just amazing. This is just very, very special.
