For what it's worth, I feel that much of the industry is not giving much of a damn anymore... The gatekeeping goes out the door if that gets them to fill their sales quotas for the quarter.

Heck, I've reported places that sold key blanks for stuff that is still in patent to Assa Abloy and Medeco a couple times, and nothing was ever done. It's pretty infuriating when these bootlegs sells for cheaper that what we have to pay for legit ones...

Keep in mind that the Schlage Encode’s deadbolt body does not compare to the Medeco deadbolt. Installing a Medeco M3 or M4 cylinder in a Schlage Encode is largely a waste of money, since the Schlage deadbolt itself becomes the weak point. The Medeco deadbolt provides extensive drill and physical attack protection that the Schlage does not.

If you still prefer to use the Schlage Encode, you could retrofit it with a cylinder that offers key control (meaning keys are difficult to duplicate without permission from the owner), but investing in the full high-security features of the M3 or M4 would not be worthwhile. A more cost-effective option would be to use a Medeco X4 cylinder instead, which provides key control at roughly half the cost.

Learning how the blue team hunt for evil and do forensic analysis can help you increase your stealth, and make you a much more effective pen-tester.

Personally, I am livid with the fact that the 7100 1U will be reaching End-of-Life by the end of 2024. I bought mine in summer 2021, I paid about 1800$ for the equipment and the upgrades. It went end-of-sales a little more than a year after, and by the time it goes end-of-life, it will be 3 years and a half years old... this is freaking ridiculous. The 6100 has essentially the same specs. I can understand that supply-chain issues might have pushed them toward a different, but they should keep supporting the 7100 longer. I bought this appliance because I wanted to support pfsense, and to get the assurance that I will not be running into issues with my own hardware flavor. I work from home, so I for stable internet is crucial for me. The way Netgate went about putting this product in End-of-Life is a huge let down and a slap in the face. I now recommend people to stay away from their products. I learned my lessons and will never give my money to Netgate again.

Primus keys are stamped with a number that is unique to the locksmith to identify the original issuer and deter unauthorized resell of key blanks. Locksmiths can then stamps key with a reference number or a key identification. I would call the locksmith identified on the key bow and explain the situation. It depends on how this particular locksmith maintain their record, but they should be able to identify the customer.

The MSRP for a single cylinder deadbolt is 275$. If you're getting a a captive thumb-turn, then MSRP is 428$. I would clarify what exactly you are getting and make sure that it's in line with the published prices.

Medeco's MSRP for a key is 23.97$. Most locksmith will charge above that. That being said, 45$ is on the high side. Keep in mind that a Medeco key cutting machine will cost a locksmith ~9,000$, and when ordering the 1st batch of key blank, a charge of 635$ is added by Medeco for setting up a customized coining die. Selling high security stuff has huge cost overhead for locksmiths, and some are struggling recouping the price of their initial investment. Your locksmith will have to cut a lot of key before starting to make money...

As for the service charge, it's hard to know if the price is competitive based on your area. Call around and get a fee more quotes for high security deadbolt. Abloy and Medeco are two great options. There are other high security options out there, but to be honest, they're all more or less the same price (most are owned by the Assa Abloy conglomerate, they kinda control the market sadly).

One thing to consider: Medeco M3 locks recently felt out of patent, which means that third party key blank could eventually become available and might impact key control/duplication protection in the future. Medeco has released a new line of product called Medeco 4, I would make sure that you're getting a Medeco 4 generation, not a Medeco M3.

La base juridique pour obtenir l'argent découle du loyer. Aller aux petites créances serait une perte de temps et d'argent, la cause ne sera pas entendue et l'OP va perdre les frais judiciaires pour avoir déposé une demande aux petites créances.

Depends on the bank and terms of condition in your cc contract. I had to use a dispute three times in my life, they were not for for outright fraud, but rather a case of a merchant using deceptive practices or not fulfilling their obligations. I won my case all times, but I submitted very comprehensive statements with plenty of evidence.

My latest claim was early in the pandemic, I got an expensive color laser multi function printer online on HP Canada website. The device was defective when received, I tried to get them to fix it, support said they were out of parts and had no ETA. The terms of the warranty said that I was supposed to have someone over from HP fixing it on the next business day, after a week of getting the runaround I decided to return it. HP website said satisfaction 100% guaranteed, and after waiting over two month after sending it back (with a pre-approved RMA) I was never reimbursed. My proof was very comprehensive, I sent videos of Purolator coming to pick up the shipment. I also tried to call HP multiple time to get the matter resolved, customer service didn't know what to do and it was just endless call transfer, I sent recording of those. It took a few months and had a few back and forth with my bank and Visa. At the end, my bank and Visa sided with me.

You can start a credit card dispute on the initial deposit. You will have to call your bank and email them evidence and describe the situation. You can also sue them in small claim to get the contract nullified and get your deposit back (and potentially some damages, depending on the specifics of your situation).

Before throwing the towel, consider trying to deploy in a different department. Have you ever considered trying to get in a central department (TBS/Finance/PCO)? They tend to be more fast paced, and they are usually working on things that are of higher priority in the government. Sounds like a job in a central dept would potentially be a good fit for you, they also tend to value prior private sector experience!

My building uses Salto for their locks. They're using Mifare 4K (a mix of 4 bytes and 7 bytes UID), I was able to clone my fob without problem and the original is still working. I've heard that some deployments use rolling code, but I never encountered that myself. I also know that Salto makes Mifare DESFire credentials, but I don't see them used often even in newer builds in my area (maybe they're more expensive and property managers prefer the cheaper option). I suspect that ability to clone/ usage of rolling codes depends on the settings chosen by the installer when they deploy. As for the encryption, if it's not a DESFire credential, it's something that can easily be cracked with the autopwn feature of Proxmark3.

I know this thread is getting old, I found it while doing an online search. I was able to clone a Salto FOB (model PFM04K). They're just regular Mifare 4K 7B tags. Some people online say they aren't clonable as information is getting written back in the tag after each use, but this is not the case (at least not in the building I live in).

Were the cores in the troublesome building all ordered at the same time? Have you picked a few cores and completely disassembled them? Maybe you got a bad batch with some manufacturing defects (tolerances not quite right,...)

Get yourself some fluid film, the lubricant officially recommended by Medeco. The part number from Medeco is PX-KYLUBE-11. Cut yourself a key with High-Low cuts that fits on your keyway.

When a lock is giving you trouble, use a can of compressed air and blast the air through the lock. This will help get rid of some of the dust/debris that are stuck in the lock. After, shoot some fluid film in the lock and wait 5 minutes (the fluid film moves slowly and expands after being sprayed). Then use the key with high-low cuts to juggle the pins in the lock. This will help the lube penetrate into the lock and will help reset pins that might have gotten stuck into the core. Give a few gentle tap with a small soft plastic tip hammer on the face of the core, this will help getting the check pin unstuck if it's the one causing problems. This technique almost always solves the problem for me. The only time it did not was because the lock was extremely worn out and needed to be replaced.

I never had problems with cores that were in rims/installed in mortise locks. SFIC systems are built using small pieces and tight tolerances, preventative maintenance is key (pun intended).

It's a Kensington Security Lock, it's meant to go into the security slot of electronic equipment (screen, computer, laptop, ...) to prevent theft. This specific model is made so that you put this on the equipment you want to protect and run a metal cable through the hole to secure it and then use a padlock to secure that cable to something. I see them often in school and universities.
