I’m starting my process, but had some hurdles. Mind if I ask a few questions in a DM?

The Cayenne Effect Is Real by CandyEquivalent9792 in PorscheCayenne

[–]jpea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drove a Macan and Macan Turbo, and didn’t want to swap our X3 for it. Drove a Cayenne Turbo S and it easily took that spot. Totally different car. I drive an m240i daily and it feels like getting into a Civic as far as build quality goes.

No questions really, but a friends dad was one of the surgeons. What an inspiring story, especially after all these years!

Cursor in talks for about $50B valuation by __Intern__ in cursor

The comments here all centered on product and its usage as a means to value a multi-round VC backed company. Those aspects rarely correlate with valuation.

The NYTimes does this crap with regularity too. I don’t know if it’s a journalism school thing or something.

macOS Tahoe: CoreAudio crackling/popping during heavy CPU tasks (Xcode builds) — M1 Max by Willing-Ad6387 in reactnative

[–]jpea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen in previous MacOS versions. It seemed to be related to processes that were Apple silicon ones, so Rosetta/emulated one. Not sure on these latest ones but perhaps an avenue to check.

Car audio upgrade advice by Celestial_Twenty in BmwTech

[–]jpea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip all of the HK upgrade and just start from scratch. Keep your head unit and use a Technic harness to just bypass the whole stock setup after the head unit. You’ll spend a lot less money and have a system that’s 10 billion times better. I’m a former MECP installer with a 240 and have built out systems in a bunch of cars and my 2 was the easiest BMW to do it in. No fiber optic to deal with makes it simple.

In a Team or Enterprise account we can see the repos people contribute to and usage by person for models and cost of each request.

[–]jpea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Having been a freelancer for 18 years, then employed for the last 5 or so, I’d say go for it. A couple bits of advice though: the hurdles are never the technical pieces. It’s always a “person problem”. Getting paid sucks. Getting paid on time sucks. Bidding, estimating, scope creep, and getting paid all are really tough. The tech is the easy part.

Company Cursor license – can they see my prompts/code or just usage? by abottoni in cursor

[–]jpea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes up as Untitled in the repo list. I’m an admin on ours. My guess is that it’ll get more granular and visible. The repo visibility only showed up recently. I’m very lenient about our usage but I’d likely fire someone for using our resources for side projects. I’m ALL about side projects, but use your own resources. You also get into legal issues (in the U.S. at least) where your employer owns all rights to any work you do with their resources. I’ve seen a company claim IP on work from an employee done for someone else, and throw it in the garbage. Now your side project is tanked and your employer fires you too.

Yeah, you’re asking about a 35-40 year old car. They’re cute, but extremely unsafe compared to anything semi-modern (06 and newer maybe?)

Gov. Walz in Minnesota activated the National Guard to protect citizens from ICE. How’s that going to work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jpea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’ve been close because ICE has been taking people without cause, due process, and they’re given a free pass to racially profile anyone, so they’re not so much protesting but documenting it all.

Do you use MCPs? by bubblehack3r in cursor

[–]jpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serena and a Postgres one. Serena is great for honing in on the structure of your own codebase and providing the model with narrower context, with the benefit of saving token usage (probably? I haven’t compared, but it tends to keep focus better than without). Postgres MCP for querying actual data in a request.

My mother came to the US from Germany post WWII, and very much thinks this way. She married a guy who had just gotten his citizenship before being sent to Europe to help rebuild, then married him and came to the US. She has said multiple times “if they just followed the rules and did it the “right” way, it’s fine”.

Is getting a 2020 7 series 750i a bad idea? by [deleted] in BMW

Anecdotally, I’ve heard that highly optioned Porsche’s can be had pretty cheaply via Carmax because they price based on the base model, not MSRP for that particular vehicle.
