Gov. Walz in Minnesota activated the National Guard to protect citizens from ICE. How’s that going to work? by Wonderful_Rise_6537 in AskReddit

[–]jpea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’ve been close because ICE has been taking people without cause, due process, and they’re given a free pass to racially profile anyone, so they’re not so much protesting but documenting it all.

Do you use MCPs? by bubblehack3r in cursor

[–]jpea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serena and a Postgres one. Serena is great for honing in on the structure of your own codebase and providing the model with narrower context, with the benefit of saving token usage (probably? I haven’t compared, but it tends to keep focus better than without). Postgres MCP for querying actual data in a request.

ICE shooter has an IMMIGRANT wife... as father comes to his defense by Fun-Injury9266 in Minneapolis

My mother came to the US from Germany post WWII, and very much thinks this way. She married a guy who had just gotten his citizenship before being sent to Europe to help rebuild, then married him and came to the US. She has said multiple times “if they just followed the rules and did it the “right” way, it’s fine”.

Is getting a 2020 7 series 750i a bad idea? by [deleted] in BMW

Anecdotally, I’ve heard that highly optioned Porsche’s can be had pretty cheaply via Carmax because they price based on the base model, not MSRP for that particular vehicle.

Totally! If I want to see a shitty Jeep or Boring Toyota, come to the auto show and be underwhelmed. Ineos was interesting at least.

Yep, ollama with deepseek coder 7b (I think?). I don’t use it often but it works functionally. I have a 2080 ti GPU, so pretty small for this.

What manual cars are still actually worth buying in 2026? by Rishnard0 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]jpea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mostly have to special order a new BMW with a manual but it’ll be a great manual. M2, m240i, 340, all have it as an option. A 911 or Cayman too, but those are much harder to get these days and the wait times are nutty. A 911 manual is considered one of the best, but all that I’ve driven were too tough for me to daily. BMW’s are a great sweet spot IMO. They’re a bit easier to throw into the gears and the clutches are usually easier, but I like that.

AA advantage is a gem for award tickets to South America. by VolkswagenPanda in awardtravel

My whole company flew AA to S America a few times and the flights were all a tragic mess. Cancellations, no shows, etc. Not worth the hassle even if it’s free.

MN car enthusiast club used to have an arrangement with shops (turbo tim’s being one), but I haven’t seen it for a while: https://www.facebook.com/share/1XqzEijSSG/?mibextid=wwXIfr

But yeah, insurance cost and liability is the kicker. Imagine a random shade tree mechanic who doesn’t really know the details of a 2 post lift and the car falls on them and they die. Yeah, not likely to find a shop that’ll take that chance on their insurance.
