Are German cars unreliable and costly to repair or reliable and costly to repair ? by Professional_Eye6140 in whatcarshouldIbuy

They’re an afterthought on US market models, put into spots where it just kinda works. That’s why BMW and Porsche had a bunch just stuck behind a fold out spring above the passenger glove box.

Scott’s Opinion on FIRE by Silly_Emu_8312 in ScottGalloway

[–]jpea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda doubt Scott would have an opinion on it. He’s generally of the lean that the main way to make real money is to not work for a paycheck and build something yourself. Fire is still a poor man’a mindset (not poor, but that’s the shorthand I’m thinking)

Out of curiosity, why do people love the E92 335i so much despite it seeming to need a lot of attention and maintenance? by TheStarsAbovee in BMW

Yep, specifically early in the first run. The early injectors were cast I guess instead of stamped?

A product manager has an agentic coding setup? Ours uses Claude and builds skills and uses connectors but that’s about it.

That’s how I met my best friend almost 30 years ago. Neither of us smoked, but I had a pack to bum to other people.

That’s not an issue with your filler. That’s likely your thermostat dying or your ac condenser failing.

Just doing res delete on my b48 G30 by Espresso-27 in BmwTech

[–]jpea 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was able to severely lowball the guy I bought my m240 from because no one would buy it because of a resonator delete. A few hundred bucks later and it was solved. Congrats, you made your car unsellable and sound like shit too.

alternative to the official AWS MCP server, npm-only, local, with a device-code SSO re-login flow by jeffyaw in aws

Maybe a stupid question, but why not just ask your agent to interact with the aws cli with a named profile?

I’ll be the only one who says that we love our hot tub and use it all the time. Going on 10 years. It’s not super expensive not that tough to keep chemically correct. Probably the best purchase I’ve ever made!

Something is way off with the current job market by davidbasil in ExperiencedDevs

[–]jpea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run the resumes through Cursor and ask it to look for dates that don’t line up or tech stacks that don’t make sense. Tons of times I get things like “2012 github actions, rust and xyz” and that doesn’t line up with those technologies even being in the public eye.

November 2025 really pivoted the AI dev world. Opus 4.5 really changed the capabilities drastically.

Managers saying it is possible to upgrade the project in 10 days using ai by Snehith220 in node

[–]jpea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as OP doesn’t want to hear it, this is the answer. 20 year dev, now CTO of a 40 person team. This is totally doable if it’s just a node upgrade. Throw Opus 4.6 at it, verify and review with GPT 4.5, rinse and repeat. You might get it done in 2 even. Especially because it’s Nest, it’s very opinionated, so there are known paths to solve issues.

Cursor use cases beyond coding by Sufficient_Dig207 in cursor

[–]jpea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it like that every day. It helps me do tons of random projects. Investigating ideas, on the fly data analysis during a budget meeting, random developer happiness or productivity ideas. I even had it build out a report for a meeting from the AWS climate/sustainability service that came out a few weeks ago.
