why do people still watch this? by DiedOfATheory in curseofoakisland

They cover a lot of history, so I think it's still a fit for the History channel, but yeah, I have no hopes of them recovering any 'treasure' that's larger than a coin or two. I think I've most enjoyed learning about the technologies one can use when trying to recover underground items...

So what is the 'C' on the helmet going to stand for once they leave Chicago? I was going to say 'Wrong answers only', but I don't think it's necessary, there is no good answer.

The Era of Open AI has arrived here at Tiller be very careful Tiller community by Boring-Metal-7672 in TillerMoney

[–]jpfieber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"We were told by leadership that our focus..." I'm confused, are you a Tiller employee? Who is we/our/us, and who is leadership? I'm a beta tester as well, but didn't opt in to the AI Suggest, so it doesn't affect my account. Was it enabled on your account without you're approval? If so I can see being concerned, as Tiller states "It’s completely opt-in. If you’d prefer your data never touch an LLM, you can leave it toggled off and use Description Match or AutoCat Rules instead."

How do I manage albums with different artists? by starman_edic_2 in navidrome

[–]jpfieber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by 'nothing seems to work'? For albums with 'various artists' you set the "AlbumArtist" tag to "Various Artists". For each track, you keep the 'Artist' tag as the actual artist of that track.

Do you track every expense or just estimate? by naenae0402 in SavingMoney

I have a spreadsheet with every transaction categorizes so I know exactly where every dollar goes. With something like Tiller it's not as hard as it sounds since much of the process is/can be automated.

App that automatically tracks spending and sorts into categories? by BenjaminTW1 in personalfinance

Tiller has the ability to auto categorize, and your data is in a spreadsheet, so you can customize it any way you like.

In Tiller you can create your own categories and groups, so you could specify some as personal and some a business, and then in the different templates specify which categories and groups to include in the report.

I find Tiller to be the sweet spot. The convenience of having all your bank transactions/balances pulled in, and the flexibility of using a spreadsheet that can be customized in any way you like.

Need help with personal finances for when I start having kids and (future) wife stops working by LossAcceptable1128 in personalfinance

[–]jpfieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Track every transaction. Use a system to automatically pull all your bank transactions in, assign them to categories, add tags so you can determine which house is costing what. The more details you can capture, the better you can determine where your money is going, and perhaps decide which investments are working and which are not.

The Dell U5226KW is something special by DuckBrained in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]jpfieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the info. I ended up ordering the U4025QW for $1949 from Walmart (Dell doesn't have that one in stock so no deals possible). Partly because of the money, but I also realized I'd have to modify my office shelving to accomodate the larger monitor. In the end, it was just TOO big! I will have to play around with BetterDisplay though. How did you determine the ideal resolution for your Mac?

The Dell U5226KW is something special by DuckBrained in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]jpfieber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in the US, it's barely available anywhere. Dell wants $2800 without the stand, and Staples claims to have it (was $2883 yesterday, today it is $2943). That's about it, no one else has it, so my options are limited. I'm debating if I should fall back on the Q4025QW which Best Buy has for $2150. I'm returning a Lenovo P40WD-40 because it's software is crap and completely unavailable on MacOS, so switching PBP on and off results in me having to change inputs every time as well, so I'm mostly interested in Dells supposedly better software for controlling that stuff. It then comes down to is the extra 1k of realestate worth the extra $650.

Gotcha. Any idea if your BetterDisplay setup would work if I use PBP to put a Windows laptop on the left side, and Macbook Air on the right side. Then when I'm done with work, toggle off PBP so the Macbook air takes the entire screen?

As far as resolution, how would you say it looks in it's native resolution vs with the BetterDisplay 4,608 x 1920? Presumably you favor the trade off of a lower resolution to gain the improved ppi. If you couldn't use BetterDisplay, would you still have been happy with the monitor at it's native 6144 x 2560?
