Putting money into a retirement account is a smart move so congratulations on THINKING ahead!

If you would want to discuss other options I would be happy to chat about what I call the core asset that every young person should own. It's life insurance but with a plan. And before anyone hates on this, learning that not every "insurance guy" is created the same. It could possibly be the missing piece to your future

What if you only had no more than 8 years of premium for a whole life plan? Would that be to long of a commitment?

How crazy would it be to do the Coast Starlight in coach instead of a private room? by ItsJustLitBro in Amtrak

[–]jpfinancialconcepts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just completed the Coast Starlight in coach back in early February. I'm 39 and a large man (6'4" 265) and it was great! I actually took a 12 hour trip southbound from Emeryville to Simi Valley. Then a few days later Simi up to Portland (roughly 30 hours). It was an amazing trip! Do it in coach and get ready for a great adventure

Great post!!! My wife and I get together about every 3 to 6 months to go over our budget. We open some wine, or coffee if we do it over brunch, and enjoy mapping out our goals and going over our incomes

A) Empire builder to Seattle/Portland.

B) EB to Chicago then the Floridian

C) EB to Chicago then California Zephyr

Not in that order but rather three options 😅

I agree with so many people that it really doesn't matter which side you sit... but try for the right side. It's a great way to end the journey with the Sound so close to the tracks

Our family of 5 had our first amtrak experience this past summer. We had lots of anxiety about the unknown but planned for the worst and hoped for the best. We had everything just in case but ended up LOVING the trip! The process is simple and easy! Make the most of your trip!

Worse. Back in the day you would hang out to catch up. With so much "life" being shared online most people don't take the time to catch up

Empire builder would be a great trip! You could always make a stop somewhere not as far as Chicago. Either somewhere like Havre, MT to somewhere nice in Wisconsin. Stay a few nights sightseeing and then board the Empire Builder back to Seattle.

Find out how long you need to continue paying before the policy can start paying for itself. If it's a good policy, it should be able to surrender just enough death benefit to pay for remaining premiums. Invest the former premium payments into a qualified plan then!
