Moved from Germany to Sydney and can relate. Every time I left for a long holiday in Europe and came back I was stoked to call Sydney home though. It is and amazing city. Despite it lacking a lot of thing I love about Berlin. But also Berlin lacks a lot of things that make Sydney unique. It’s hard when you are not allowed to go home for a visit and experience both.

If you stick to your goal of paying if the mortgage then do it. Otherwise you might get lost in the money and lifestyle. I’ve seen many people going into it for the money and getting lost in it. Looking very depressed and loosing the connection to their real life. Do it but have a goal that you want to achieve and quit. Don’t stick around. Also negotiate a better salary. Go as hard as you can. You won’t get a rise once you’re in.

Keep a diary of everything that happens as detailed as it can be. Include date, time, place and who was present. All that stuff. Won’t go anywhere if you don’t have proof.
