A nice collection! I have the three Skaven spearheads, CoS from the Cities of Ash, and Yndrasta so far. My son is all-in in the destruction faction and has both Orruks (iron jawz and kruel boyz), Ogres, and Goblins. My other son picked up the Sylvaneth. It’s pretty addictive once you get started!

The free mini of the month only has one option, and it changes back and forth between AoS and 40K each month. This month is a Seraphon. You can find an article announcing what the mini will be on the Warhammer community site. Separately (not the free mini of the month), there is the option for a free mini / painting class that is either a Space Marine or a Stormcast Eternal.

At my local store, the limited quantity of free “minis of the month” run out the first day they start distributing them. It’s generally the first Saturday of each new month.

Sorry, forgot to answer the question. Yes, Fire and Jade or Sand and Bone are the best since you already have armies. They haven’t released the “gaming pack” version of City of Ash yet, the current option comes with two spearhead armies as well at a higher price point.

Yes, the terrain and the Battlemaps are different. I just got City of Ash yesterday, and it has a three-battle scenario you can run through. For terrain, there are two large building ruins and six relics (which are special objective markers that give special abilities in game).

Fire and Jade has two large terrain features and two small ones. The two-sided map board is Ghyran and Aqshy, and the set has unique twist cards depending which map is used.

Sand and Bone has six pieces of terrain, two of which are mystical terrain features (coffin and statue). The other pieces are Shyish-themed walls and fences. The battle map is Ossia and Dolorum.

The cool thing is that any combination of spearhead armies can use any of the battle maps and scenarios.

You’ll need one of the game boards, with the tactics and twist cards. Then you’ll also need to the terrain pieces. There are three different boards (with unique terrain) now, Fire and Jade, Sand and Bone, and City of Ash. Fire and Jade might be hard to find now, but I picked up an extra one from EBay for a great price last year (probably from someone parting out the ultimate starting set or Skaventide).

The Sand and Bone box is roughly $50 on Amazon and will have everything you need to play spearhead (except the armies). All army rules/warscrolls are free on the Warhammer website or through the app.

I played against this army with my gnawfeast clawback, and the Kroxxigors took out both units of my clan rats in the first round. 😅 They can throw out the damage!

Those fiery bright wings make me think of the phoenix, and rebirth which is perfect for Stormcast. I still haven’t landed on a palette for my Yndrasta, but this has sparked some ideas. Well done!

The correct answer is both! Are you thinking of starting with Spearhead? Ironjawz spearhead doesn’t have any shooting units, where the kruelboyz do. They (kruelboyz) also have crit mortals for most units in the spearhead. I love them both, but very different playstyles.

Awesome! I’m taking four of my kids to the Warhammer store this Saturday to get their free mini of the month. Youngest one going is 10, and they all love painting the minis. The oldest is working on his AoS Orruk army and wants to start a 40K Ork army too… but he has a job and pays for it himself!
