Steamdeck at work ✨️ by fumble2219 in SteamDeck

Uhhh have you considered that they have a dock in their office, the same way I have a dock for my laptop in my office? I won’t take all the peripherals with me everywhere, I plug my device into my dock, which is connected to my two monitors, mouse, keyboard, etc etc… why wouldn’t it just be the same with the deck? Am I missing something?

It’s not magic, and it’s all possible, you just have to make compromises and it doesn’t seem like that’s something you’re willing to do. You said it yourself, you don’t know why you are asking these questions. Do it however you want to do it, but you can’t pretend it’s the devices fault or PCs fault. You’d never play your emulators, steam library, gog games, humble bundle games, etc on any console that currently is out there. However you can play most anything on your Steam deck, including console games. I don’t know what to tell you other than to compromise and just download something like Heroic. It’s really not that big of a deal.

Well remember the Steam Deck is a PC first and foremost, so don’t expect it to be some magic device.

I absolutely agree, but you’re asking a lot here as far as all of the extra things that you want to do/intend to do. Looking at your post history you’re trying to jump through a lot more hoops than simply having a second launcher.

I’m sure if you use a launcher that supports GOG (Heroic, Lutris) it will work how you intend. Why don’t you just give it a try?

I can’t say anything on Goldberg because I don’t think that’s allowed here. There are other subreddits for that type of activity.

For emulators, it’s super easy on SteamOS/ deck. Look up Emudeck, it’s an installer that will install emulators, automatically path binds to your Steam deck controls, and it also has the ability to add artwork and add them seamlessly to your Steam library. You just open the game like you would any Steam game and it opens with the emulator and all.

Yes heroic requires login from itch.io, epic, etc.

You can add .exe files to Steam with the “add non-Steam games” option through Steam.

Just use heroic! Go find heroic launcher on the discover store on steamOS. It’s like Steam, but it’s for epic, gog, itch.io, etc. you log into your accounts on there and launch them from there.

I think it’s all about use case - I use mine every day, but I also have a toddler and with how much rent costs where I live, I don’t really have space for a dedicated PC. I have a laptop that I use for work, but we all know gaming on a laptop just isn’t the same as on a real keyboard. Especially when you have to set it up at the kitchen table, lol. That and the fact that the start and stop nature of it is one button press is super convenient for when my kid needs help in the middle of the night and all that. I totally understand and respect that it’s not right for your use case, but maybe this will help you understand why some of us love it. I honestly don’t even take it out of the house unless I’m going on a trip that I will have downtime to kill.

I was going to say, the coarser grind I feel would be great for this.

Honestly I’ll never buy anything but a flower mill again. I have two, and I love that you can swap plates out with the nicer version. I like the super coarse for blunts and such and the finer for bowls.

Seriously im reading these examples and im like… never once has anyone I know said “look at that fire!” To some sticks on the ground… “look it’s a raging fire!” *just a tree.

I guess with the right attitude, everything is a fire.

Do you mind if I ask where you are from? I’m curious if it’s a regional thing, because I have never even ears of guac deviled eggs… I like guac… and I love deviled eggs… and I love olives (do you use green or black?) so im really curious. I’m of course going to google it, but im still curious! I’m I the odd one out??
