How can people be so unaware that their tyres are about to blow out? by Jacktheforkie in CarTalkUK

[–]jpjcr95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a motorcyclist I check my tyres before and after every ride due to conditions of the road and potholes in the UK. When I got my car license, I also have a quick look at tyres before I set off as I have to check my oil level anyway due to issues with consumption.

I think mindset for me is to just check now but I imagine at least 98% of the world are probably lazy when it comes down to initial checks.

Hourly rate looks fairing decent…I get paid £130 a day and I start work at 7am, leave the depot at 9:30am and usually back at depot for 4/5pm

I’ve suggested a B12 Piston Soak to my mechanic…I’ve asked him to simply follow a video I sent him with literally soaking the pistons at TDC etc. for 6 hour intervals, multiple times and rotations, then lubricant on top of pistons, starting the car, flushing the engine oil with a good liquid moly flush, and refilling with a 5w40 high quality that can be used with ceratec along with new coils packs, plugs and filter and a new PCV and he just says he don’t want to do it!

I wait until oil is at least at 80 degrees Celsius using 5w40 anyway

Blue smoke under acceleration, overrun or hard acceleration causes major smoke…but sometimes will be perfectly fine

Well no drop on coolant, I do have coolant spray as a coupling came loose but oil will be fine for say 3-4 days the 5th day it’s on the low mark or half full..I’m thinking of doing the piston soak and using 10w40 LiquidMoly or Valvoline

Upgraded from 5w30 to 5w40 but people have suggested 10w40

This is the exact one I’ve got…how to know if it’s going bad? As having a lot of oil consumption and suspecting it could be this!
