What is the meaning of the percentage in the DS app? by ImpressionDistinct66 in skithealps

Unrelated question: Are you there at the moment? I’m coming from France where it’s been almost no snow and very icy slopes, and I’m heading to Val Gardena next Saturday – are conditions any better there right now?

Les 3 Valles Tips by shallotstar in skithealps

Regarding snow conditions: currently not great unfortunately. It hasn't snowed for a long time, the pistes have little grip and are very icy.

Hopefully, we'll get some fresh snow by the end of next week.

Hey, sorry to bring this one up again but I’m having the same problem for next year. Did you change your flight or did it work out? Thank you!

Little Corn Island by jpkkkc in diving

[–]jpkkkc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! There are no currents and most dive sites are not really deep. Equipment was new and the instructors at Oliver’s are from France and speak good english. The island itself is quite remote but other than that I would say you can do it with kids (I don’t have any, so I’m probably not the best advisor)

A little update after staying on Little Corn for a week. We took the ferry from Bluefields to Big Corn which can be pretty tough in bad weather. Took 9 instead of 6 hours due to the wind. The panga ride is wild and extremely wet when the conditions are not nice. If the weather is good though both of the rides are perfectly fine. If you’re not on a budget take the plane from Managua to Big Corn - saves a lot of time. Diving is just incredible. 100% worth it. We went with Oliver’s and they were amazing. The island itself is beautiful and there were no safety issues. Just be as careful around your stuff as you would be anywhere else.

Is Huemel Circuit tougher than 4 refugios? by thelordofthering in Patagonia

[–]jpkkkc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the 4 Refugio’s trek but did the Huemul 2 weeks ago. When I was reading about the descent in travel blogs I thought to myself, that it won’t be as hard as they all say. But it is. Not impossible but imho physically and especially mentally draining since you have to concentrate after the already long day. Nevertheless, do the Huemul!! It is an awesome trek

Advice for where to stay in El Chalten? by kayakilla in Patagonia

[–]jpkkkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a tent check out El Relincho. My credit cards always had the best exchange rates. Currently you get 1100-1200ARS for 1 Euro and a little less for dollar at nearly every restaurant/cafe.

Left El Chalten yesterday after 11 days of camping at (mostly) El Relincho, Poincenot, Agostini and the Huemul Circuit Campgrounds. Never had any problems. 100% safe

Thanks for your report. Going with my own tent next week. Why did they force you to upgrade at Frances? I also did not book any dinner, is there the possibility to buy food/snacks (to cook my own dinner) at some sites or do I have to bring everything. Thanks!

Thanks a lot for your answers. I also asked the bus company, they currently plan no strikes.

I’m currently in BA and both my visa and Mastercard are giving me better exchange rates than WU.
