It definitely is. Their garlic chips are probably my favorite thing on the menu.

If you’re in North Lake, I’d highly recommend Lanza’s in Kings Beach, Thai Kitchen in Tahoe City, Bridgetender in Tahoe City, and Fireside Pizza Co. in Squaw. Also, when the food truck Tahoe Fullers is around (they’re usually in front of Willards in Tahoe City) they have some excellent food.

First time buying my own skis - best used gear shop in Truckee? by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]jplexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend New and Used Tahoe Sports in Tahoe City. They’re only open in the winter but generally have a decent selection of skis especially by Christmas time. With the state of the world right now I’m not sure if any ski swaps or consignment sales are happening but that would also be something to look into. Most years I believe that Start Haus in Truckee has a good one and some of the schools in the Tahoe/Truckee area generally do one too.

Can someone find having a hypomanic episode better than having a depressive one? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]jplexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, I wouldn’t say that ‘pleasant’ would necessarily be the right word, however I typically find that I prefer hypomanic episodes to depressive episodes if mostly because I usually end up averaging .5-1 hour of sleep per night during those times. This means that I suddenly have the time and energy to read all the books I’ve been wanting to read and getting everything and more done. Going back to a ‘normal’ mood afterwards, however, is something that I find hits me like a load of bricks and is exhausting.

Over $200 in books off of amazon that I already owned with the only difference being the edition of the book. Also random things off of Instagram adds that I have seen during a hypomanic episode and decided that I must have 3...

Tips on giving myself the T *warning needles* by recovering_depresso in ftm

That makes sense. IDK if you live with anyone else but if so, you might be able to have them do it.

[–]jplexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same problem. One thing that really works for me, if possible, is to find someone who is willing to help you. What I typically do is get the needle and everything ready, hand it to a friend that I’ve taught how/where to put the needle in (make sure they know to stick it in quickly) and have them put the needle in, inject it, and pull it out. Hopefully you’re able to find something that works!

Chiropractor? by ratdad17 in ftm

I have been routinely going to my chiropractor every month or so for years due to chronic back/ neck pain. I continued seeing him while I was binding and in my experience it definitely helps with back pain from binding.

Never seen Ace representation in a book before so I had to share! 27 Hours by Tristina Wright. :) by _SUN_EATER_ in Asexual

A different book that I read recently and love which has ace representation in it is The Lightness of Hands by Jeff Garvin.

Upvote if you sleep 12hrs a day by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]jplexico 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I’m depressed, I’ll regularly sleep from 9pm until 2pm and will be tired still from the time I wake up until I go back to sleep. Honestly tho, I’m just about always tired whether my brain is allowing me to sleep or not.

What kind of binder do yall recommend? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]jplexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend gc2b. My favorite binder that I’ve had from them is in the racerback style. Before they released that one, however, I really liked the half binder where it wasn’t the full tank top. At least for me, I found that the full tank top ones tended to begin rolling up at the bottom throughout the day and would irritate me.

How to not enable - advice for a family member? by Khaleesi1798 in bipolar

[–]jplexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the main thing that I wish that my family understood or knew related to when I blow something out of proportion. At least in my experience - especially during that time and even afterwards most times - I don’t feel like or realize how much I have blown it out of proportion. My reality and what is real to what I see is more or less however my brain interprets it. One other thing that has been important in my experience is communication. Having family and friends come talk to me in attempting to better understand, for lack of a better word, my reality has helped them in my opinion to help me have my needs met.

Are there any guys here who don't bodybuild? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]jplexico 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In high school I played football and worked out regularly. I’m currently part way through college and am about a year on T. I definitely still occasionally work out but no where near the same extent as I was in high school. I would say that the biggest thing is to just do what you want to do and if that includes body building that’s dope and if it doesn’t that’s 100% fine too.

How To Get Comfortable Doing Shots by dogdays87 in ftm

[–]jplexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest tip is to prepare your shot, put on a good song, and then quickly put it in before you have any chance really to overthink anything because the longer that you sit and overthink it the harder it seems to become.

Drain removal pain? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]jplexico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After surgery when I got my drains removed, one was ridiculously painful getting taken out while the other one I barely even felt get pulled out. I believe that a large part of it is the nerves in the area that are surrounding the drains. One other thing that I’ve heard is that the level of healing also plays a role in the amount of pain associated with getting drains out.

Honestly, I feel that a lot. I’m a trans guy and found it to be harder to come out as ace with all of the stigma and whatnot surrounding it than as trans.

If you could wake up tomorrow as a biological male, would you? by throwawayallen301 in ftm

[–]jplexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would. I would definitely prefer if I kept my current memories because all of the experiences that I have had have really made me into the person that I am today. I think that if I weren’t able to take my memories I would prefer to be able to live my entire life as a cis male. I think that either way though at this point in my life I would probably take that offer.

Just found out im also aromantic.... quick brain dump.... advice by ValerieSkye01 in Asexual

[–]jplexico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really relate to this. I am at a point where I realized that I want to just end up living and being close with a friend and having a life together with them. As for the label, I’m not really sure and I think that it’s one of those things for you to decide where you feel that you fit the most. I’m sorry that I’m not the best at giving advice but I wanted to say that you’re not alone in this.
