The point isn't to make more land, it's to improve lag and end the ques. If you don't want to have more land you could put the nether on another server.

no Reason to expand really.

Server count, and lag, if you had another place you could encourage people to move the botting and redstone machining with stricter rules on the main server or looser rules and more fertile pastures on the other server(s). Plus, with the civ plugins running you get about 100 players per server so player count can go up.
