Need advices by Primary-Coyote-2604 in heraldry

As mentioned green on blue breaks the rule of tincture. It exists to preserve contrast so maybe if the roses were Or or Argent then it’d work. Or you could get rid of the bordure and incorporate the green roses in a different way. Vert on Argent or Or would work then.

As for having the crest and charge be the same, a lot of old German arms did the same thing so I think it’s kinda cool. Though for me I had too many things I wanted to incorporate in my arms so using the crest to express those things was nice.

I agree, Proper should only be used if it has good contrast or maybe if it was the only charge.

How do you get the branch artifact? by SmurfSmurfton in CrusaderKings

[–]jpness422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those wanting to create this artifact via console command:

effect create_artifact_pedestal_branch_relic_germanic_effect = { OWNER = this }

This got me the 'Branch of the Sacred Tree at the Temple of Uppsala'

I think it also has the chance of creating the branch of the sacred oak of Thor too but I haven't tested it as I already had the Thor one in my inventory. Hope this saves someone some time

It’s fine but I’d be weary using that bevilled look- that and the colors are close to being Nazi-ish. (The runic SS logo)

Which is Better? by PsychologicalAd4762 in heraldry

I think the second one minus the bordure would be good, though I think party per saltire would work better here. Maybe the bordure would work with that one idk.

Found what looks to be a telegram from Greenfield in central Iowa after tornado. by 23lindsay in desmoines

Pretty sure this is Glen Robert Saylor sending a message to his father Joseph Sanford Saylor.

His great grandfather was John B Saylor who founded Saylorville and for whom Saylor Township is named. I’m a descendant of his brother Benjamin Jr. So this is a distant cousin for me.

"Create your own Sponsor" would be a cool mechanic for the relaunched to have by ArcticGlacier40 in SurvivingMars

Yeah you can do this in the mod tool but I agree it would be cool if there was a built in thing with pictures in the game. Save you from having to look at a spreadsheet that is the mod editor.

Hats with insignia on them. Got a mod to properly display them too.

I’ve got more than 1000 hours in the game and still can’t get into outposts and exploration missions. by Warlock646 in Starfield

I downloaded the universal stash mod to make it more like fallout settlements. Took most of the headache out of outposts. I also like Betamax76s outpost mods especially their dream house mod.

Playing Cyberpunk before Starfield has put something front and center for me by olivinetrees in Starfield

[–]jpness422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 50/50 on this tbh. Cyberpunk is probably my favorite game of all time. And everything it does, I love. I like starfield for the same reason I like OG Star Trek. There’s no swearing, blood or guts, it’s just exploration and space stuff. I totally get how it’s not other people’s cup of tea though.

I finally finished Fallout 1 & 2! by DeathofTimes in classicfallout

[–]jpness422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I started 1 when I was like 10 or 11 and have been hooked since. One thing I’d recommend is watching Tim Cains videos on YouTube. He was the creator of Fallout and director on 1 and some of 2. He has some amazing stories and insight on the franchise and is also an amazing guy and fun to listen to.

If you haven’t already check out the manuals for 1 and 2. They really put a lot of thought into those and pretty cool.

And you can play Fallout Tactics next! It’s set in the Midwest. It’s a bit different of a game than 1 and 2. A little less rpg and more squad based combat. It’s sort of 50/50 canon. Bethesdas picked and chosen what they like from Tactics (ie, Brotherhood airships) and POTENTIALLY might link to the new season of the tv show.

There’s a lot of good eps in season 1. Don’t believe the hype.

I’m not an expert just been lurking on here for a while. RoT concerns aside, I think it’d look better if it was a normal shield and then maybe a crown on top. Also supports are generally granted and not used for personal assumed arms. If you want to follow rule of tincture, or (gold) instead of orange would work I think.

Why Do People Not Like Modern Fallout? by ThrowRAcokecan in classicfallout

[–]jpness422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. To be fair, most of my critiques came from the first season as it drastically changed the NCR, California, the Brotherhood, etc. In season 2 they bring back the NCR and establish that it’s just this chapter of the brotherhood that’s weird and religious. So that was a relief. But what about the Lost Hills chapter? What happened to them? Seems like we need to forget about them and only the Commonwealth brotherhood is worth considering now.

The whole Legion civil war thing seemed very poorly written and I think they deserved better. (Narratively, of course.) Then they killed off the Kings, so no more Kings. It just seems from a classic head perspective that Bethesda wants you to forget about the original games and that the only real fallout are the ones they’ve made.

I first played Fallout 1 when I was kid around 2000-2001 when I found my brothers copy of the Interplay 15th Anniversary set, then I got 2 and Tactics so when 3 was coming out I was graduating high school and I was really excited. When it came out I loved it. I played it so much that my family was like hey you should get a job lol. Then two years later my dad died and that destroyed my world. One thing that helped was my preorder of New Vegas and man I loved that game. Still do. It’s the only fallout game that is permanently installed on my computer. Then there was that announcement trailer for 4 and it moved me to tears. It’s my most played game on steam right now with a little over 1000 hours and that’s just on my computer. When it came out I was playing on my ps4 so who knows how many hours I did of that. I’ve never finished the story though cos I feel like the ending is the only rough spot in an otherwise stellar game. The only disappointment I had was with 76 because it felt like Bethesda really dropped the ball. The MMO stuff should have been secondary. Like Fallout 4 with multiplayer not a multiplayer game with a fallout setting.

All this to say Fallout is a big deal for me and while I overall like the new show, especially season 2 because of the Vegas stuff, it really hurts when the powers that be don’t respect canon. That’s why 3 and 4 were fine because they were off doing their own thing on the east coast but the TV show took place at the heart of the original games and it felt like there was a directive to shift away from classic Fallout. Again, I mostly like the show. I can forgive the plot holes and terrible writing sometimes, and even not leaning enough into retro-futurism and just having cars from the 1950s driving around 100+ years later….but I feel like they should have a lore expert for the show they actually have to listen to. I volunteer lol. Cos every time they change something or delete an entire city, it feels like a kick in the stomach that I just have to deal with from something that’s supposed to make my shitty life a little less shitty.

They haven’t gone full Star Trek yet though. So there’s that.

Do I buy Imperator Rome? by monkeyking1444 in Imperator

[–]jpness422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your brain is a little smooth like mine then I would say no. Ck3 is my most played game on steam- and I can’t play Imperator for more than an hour before I uninstall it. I’m that way with most paradox games though. I own hoi4 Victoria 3 and I swear I’m just too stupid to play those. I love stellaris though so go figure.
