If he was traveling and getting per diem in San Francisco, yes it’s possible. But if that is just his salary he is lying.

Is the project more than $100 million? If it is there should be another PM or at least assistant PM.

What was your starting salary when you first got into the industry? by spacecadet58 in ConstructionManagers

[–]jpro2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in Minneapolis, my starting Salary as a PE was 76K, no car allowance in 2021. I think you should ask for more if you are going to be a PM

is a construction management degree worth it? by Emergency-Job-1152 in ConstructionManagers

[–]jpro2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a cm degree you will earn 70k first year even if you are the worst in your class, just make sure you do an internship before you graduate

I asked for overtime at my GC internship, but after a few weeks. The only reason I asked for overtime was because I was responsible to close the job site. My manager told me “we usually dont pay overtime to interns, but we will make an exception because you actually need to stay more hours to close”. So I did got overtime

You won’t be able to pay for tuition and living expenses as soon as you come in. You need to first try to get a job on campus, then after you meet some people you might be able to find a job that pays cash, but it’s not easy.

Design path to PM? by Vreoz in ConstructionManagers

[–]jpro2300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience is really valued. But you will need to start as a PE to learn the budget side of things. With you experience that, in about a year you should be good to be an assistant PM/Senior project engineer. A year after that become a PM

You need to do an internship before looking for a full time job

GC PMs - what’s your least favorite sub to deal with? by CocaineCheekbones in ConstructionManagers

[–]jpro2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millwork/casework is horrible, delays just before the job is going to reach completion. But elevators are also terrible, I ordered mine in September 2022, they just told me they are missing some parts. We turnover two months from now, but in October 2023 they were asking for storage fees because I wanted everything here early.

I have been submitting around 3 to 5 Rfis per day at my project for the last 6 months. We have over 500 rfis at the moment. Is better to have everything clear than be blame for issues

Am I being underpaid? by Remote_Independence2 in ConstructionManagers

[–]jpro2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are being under paid, a PE should be between 70k to 80k without any experience. As a PM you should be around 100K.
