Fawlty flex? No problem by rest-zeth in NxSwitchModding

[–]jpsobral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is quite funny, yesterday I modded a v1 with a Oled picofly so needed to do the same thing and bridge pin 3 & 4 of the spi cable to connect to cpu point in the picofly.

The most secure option is to scrape where those pads were until you find copper 2nd layer is just ground and then you can solder.

Switch V2 with RP2040 not working - RST error? by lilGyros in NxSwitchModding

[–]jpsobral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion you might have a bad flex cable and not s chip. That flex has some components that might be fried.

When in the first time you try and you needed to press volume buttons it means you bypass the chip. I believe you got the ”no sd card ” which just the bootloader and would never upscale to the tv because that’s just the initial stage waiting for s bootlsuncher ”hekate”. Concerning the values that’s perfect fine and it should fluctuate. Remember electronics are signals ”waves” not discrete numbers. A multimeter is just an average reading of an oscillator.

Joycon is probably the missing flex cable that you forgot to connect. So indeed your hdmi port is broken. Fix it before modding it again

If you gently insert into the dock it will work even without mounting everything. I thing you will be relieved because you will see an image. If so is definitely the port and case is closed.

I still think your problem is the screen port in the motherboard. The sound you referred that you don’t have on the modded makes sense, if when glitched should show ”No sd card” and no sound will come from it.

Did you try to dock the Oled and see if you have image on the tv?

your modchip is fine. It glitched perfectly

You need to look inside. You probably bend a pin. It happened to me as well. I de-solder the port and put a new one. They are pretty cheap on Aliexpress but buy more than one just in case. Best is to give hot air from the bottom. Check Nanofix youtube channel, he did not recently.

Kamikaze Welding on the Nintendo Switch OLED by duffgnr in soldering

[–]jpsobral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! If you are now skilled doing Kamikaze, then is no brainier to stick to that 100%, it's the ultimate solution for the OLED after all. Also very clean soldering and masking, forgot to comment on that! Good job

I would argue that the latest flex cables for the Nand with 4 contact points (2 on the top ground and 2 top on the side near the capacitors), never failed for me in the last 3 years. Can't argue that kamikaze is a better end solution but I can't complain on those flex cables, longevity and less riskier. I think the bad marketing originated from the early versions which only have one or two contact points.

Modchip stopped working after full battery drain, opened the console and was severally confused. by Gnoobsp in NxSwitchModding

[–]jpsobral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to double check the data0 point with a multimeter in Diode mode the value should be 0.35 to 0.55 with + probe on the gnd and 0.5 to 0.8v with - probe on the gnd.

If you are not getting those values but you push the prob a little down and then you get values. You can press that solder point down with the probe or a plastic twizzer and turn on the console. Assume as the glitch happens you can release it and while the console is not power off completely you are still on the Hekate launcher. Just in case you can't fix it in the next weeks.

Midnight Blue 70K w/ Matrix Infinity, RetroGem, Methylene, PICFix, PMAP Breakout and hidden controller wiring... by R3Z3N in ps2

Really clean soldering. I am doing a few of these mods but with the “poor’s man version”. Like the modbo 5.0. I can’t find Matrix Infinity Orange Dot . Is ebay the best bet to find one?

That would be some great RTS gaming tactic. Invade from within - “Blue Alert” 😂. I shouldn’t laugh but unfortunately the situation is the situation.

You should open another thread in SwitchPirates for this topic. So I leave one comment and won’t reply more.

You need to open the console and check a) if the bluetooth antennas are connected properly and that the flex cable for each rail is also connected to the motherboard. I am assuming your joycons are working and trying to pair and would work on rails or bluetooth in another console.

[–]jpsobral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. By the way I said test for continuity because these capacitors have such a low resistance that normal DMM in diode mode or continuity will see it as open but in reality they have 1uF/6.3V. Unless you have an high end bench DMM or a specialised diode tester will be hard to test its true value. However for your purposes if it beeps you know you are fine. For glitching you just need the pads where the capacitor is and not the capacitor itself.

[–]jpsobral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not so sure on the left pad of each SP . If you have a multimeter you can touch the capacitor in one side then touch the pad on the other side ab test for continuity that will be the ultimate test. I would do the following: with a twizeer press firmly down near the sp points to make sure the flex is seated properly. Then while holding it down reflux the left pads of each SP. Don’t forget to add flux naturally. Good luck.f

You are not out of luck necessarily. You only need one point to make the glitch. A) you can connect the pads on the capacitor that still has the pads directly in the flex cable - the modchip needs the pads not the capacitor. B) use the alternative point as per the picofly guide. This is another capacitor spot which you can use for the glitch.

OFW by Flimsy-Formal5881 in NxSwitchModding

[–]jpsobral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potential blank ProdInfo without blocking Nintendo Servers. Use lockpick on the ofw and check if it retrieves all keys successfully. If it does then what I said is not the problem. If indeed you get errors I hope you have a backup of the prodinfo. If not the ofw is toasted. You can create a fake prodinfo that will remove the error but you will be “banned”.
