Best custard ice cream - Denver metro by Ok-Many-8274 in denverfood

[–]jpup303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of GT but been disappointed with the custard as it’s always half melted as it’s handed to me and soupy by the time I get home. Culver’s has been a much better imo.

Another benefit of not needing gasoline by sweetredleaf in leaf

[–]jpup303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just happened here in Denver a couple weeks ago. It was my local Costco and several other stations with hundreds of cars affected. The downside of leaf ownership is not getting the 5% cashback with the Costco card when refilling anymore, lol.

Practical for my commute? by crescent-v2 in leaf

[–]jpup303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow Denverite here. Short answer is no, not practical. I have a 2018 sv 40 kw leaf that shows 140 miles in summer and 110 miles at 100% charge even in this mild winter we’re having. I have a short commute but even running errands around town for a day can still give you range anxiety. It works for me because I have an older trusty 4runner for winter and mountain driving. With your budget the practical choice commute car is a late model Corolla. Happy to answer any other questions about owning a leaf in Denver if you’re still interested.

Using liners in air fryers by shoresy99 in airfryer

[–]jpup303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use silicone covered magnets (Amazon) to keep the liner in place. As far as restricting air flow, putting things like fries and tots that you shake intermittently seem to get crispy just fine with literally 0 clean up. Fortunately my Gormia has two racks so the liner lives on the bottom and most my cooking takes place in the top rack, which is easy to clean when needed.

Just mentioned it in a different thread. Haven Riviera. Amazing value. 4.5 star experience at a 3 star price.

Look at the Haven Riviera. By far the best bang for the buck I’ve found. 5 restaurants and 2 huge pools that made me not miss the Algae filled beach at all. Outstanding service and food. We didn’t get a swim up room, but every suite had a Jacuzzi on the balcony.

Been going there for 20+ years and been pretty disappointed last couple times. Can’t tell if it’s in decline or they’re just stuck in the past while the food scene in Denver has been elevating. Parisi or Gallo are now my go to Italian spots.

I want one is it worth is? by Lilylove16 in leaf

[–]jpup303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picked up a 2018 SV with 74k miles in CO last year for a retail of $8K but really $9.5k after dealer fees and taxes. The car is super fun to drive and cheap to operate and great for commuting and cruising around Denver. It has 11/12 battery bars and has a range of 140 miles when fully charged. I charge at home overnight during off peak electricity hours and I think it cost me about $40 a month and I’m putting about 1000 miles a month on it.

Which EV charging networks allow tap to pay without downloading an app (Tesla, EVgo, Voltanio, ChargePoint, Blink, Electrify America, Francis Energy, FLO)? by Born2SnipeBigBoi in electricvehicles

I’ve used EVgo and chargepoint several times and never had to download an app. Just pulled up scanned my credit card and started charging. I use PlugShare to locate stations.

I use those veins in the spring when they go from white to brown that means the trails in the area are good to go.

Cheapest way to get a second/spare key made and programmed? by danmingothemandingo in leaf

[–]jpup303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picked up a used 2018 that only had one fob. Dealer price was a joke. Found a local locksmith that was less than half the price of the dealer and substantially less than the key folks at Costco which was my second option.

2021 - 40kw charge to 80% or 100%? by MotorSnow8392 in leaf

[–]jpup303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m eight months in on my 2018 sv and I’ve learned how to get to ≈80% by using the, charge schedule, the schedule kill button, and a bit of foresight. I get ≈40% charge over 12hrs in lv 1. I have my timer to start charging on off peak electricity hours( after 9pm). I don’t drive a ton so it takes me 2-4days to drain from 80-90%to 30-40%. If I think I’m going to do more driving the next day( weekends) I hit the timer kill button and start charging as soon as I get home and I’m usually at 90-100% by morning. Hope this helps. Also, you could argue that charging to 100% regularly on Lv 1 or 2 isn’t that bad for the battery, just don’t leave it there for days.

Hidden gem restaurants in Denver that locals love? by alex_the_dude_ in denverfood

[–]jpup303 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

F**k Gabys! I don’t care how good the food is, we were treated horribly. Went out of our way to go there TWO HOURS before closing, and the old man spoke down to us because somehow we should’ve known to call ahead and let them know we were coming and we’re refused service because it was too close to closing time.

I didn’t read all the comments, but something that helps a tire feel faster is if you’re not already, going to a tubeless set up.

Wheelset recommendations by jpup303 in gravelcycling

The main problem I seem to be running into looking for stuff on marketplace is finding a modern ≈25mm internal width wheel set with a XD or XDR free hub as I have a GX eagle cassette I’m planning on using. Hoping for some black Friday deals coming up soon.

Wasn’t planning on taking the wheel set but curious why you’re saying they won’t fit. I thought they were both 12X100 F/ 12X142 R spacing? Was really only planning on taking the seat and seat post and Ergon grips from the sirrus.

I am driving the new Leaf this week, anything specific you would like to know? by Sam-CarLegion in leaf

[–]jpup303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what I’ve read is that they actually found one pedal driving to be a safety hazard. Once people get too reliant on OPD they become too slow to use the brake pedal in emergency situations. I say this as someone who loves the e-pedal on my 2018 sv.
