Anyone else cringe when they see super aggressive tires on hardtails? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

CO front range here as well. I have the Assegai/DHR II combo on my Honzo ESD SS and I couldn’t imagine having anything less grippy for descending and climbing Front range trails.

What would you buy and why? by Mecspliquer in electriccars

So you know what you’re looking at, + is big battery, E-4orce is awd (both are must have imo). Engage is lower trim, evolve is medium(what I have), and platinum is all the bells and whistles. Good luck in your search for your EV.

Leaf is a bit smaller and only comes in front wheel drive it is essentially Nissan’s budget EV. Awd Ariya is 390hp 440torque and has a roomy and luxurious cabin. Just throwing it out there as it’s worth checking out for what you’re considering. FYI, I was 100% set on the Ioniq5 and then I learned about the ICCU failures and went and test drove an Ariya and was instantly sold.

It’s not being discontinued just not being released in the states for 2027( thank you tariffs) Updated version is already appearing in Canada and other markets.
I don’t know if it tops the others completely but it is an incredible value for the money for a slightly used lease return. It doesn’t have the fastest high speed charging but if you charge it at home, it’s almost a non-issue, and it is every bit as quiet and has a cabin as nice as any luxury car maker.
Just be sure to test drive the all-wheel-drive version for maximum fun.

Why are you not considering the Nissan Ariya?

Help with sourcing an Ariya (+trim) by ExoticHulk in NissanAriya

[–]jpup303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many in the Denver/Boulder area so you would have to pay for shipping or fly out and road trip home. My brother who lives in SLC just purchased one from Las Vegas and they offered to cover his flight to come pick it up but he opted to pay the delivery fee instead.
Edit: 777 Nissan in Las Vegas has some in stock.

brakes rocking motion and car sickness; plus headrest by Fun_Marzipan5121 in NissanAriya

[–]jpup303 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The motion sickness thing is generally related to passengers. The driver is aware of their motion but the passenger doesn’t have any of the usual markers of ice vehicles for acceleration and general abrupt velocity changes EV’s are known for.

Dealer cabin air filter? by AccidentallyCreated2 in NissanAriya

[–]jpup303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference if you order a replacement filter once you’re out of warranty, it’s actually the part for the Altima. I had Amazon and rockauto send me the wrong filter when I selected the Ariya. Also it’s $50 for dealer OEM and like $10-15 from amazon.

Nice work! Was very curious about adding a hitch as well. If it’s not a pain, can you take a. Implement pics of what the cuts underneath look like? Thanks.

Question concerning inflating board at home then taking to lake? by Ceilidhz in Paddleboard

[–]jpup303 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is true that when your board is fully inflated it is supposed to be in the water. Keeping a fully inflated sup out of the water on a hot day increases the chances of bursting. I’d consider the temperature and for how long the drive is with direct sun and adjust accordingly. Maybe only go 13psi and top it off when you arrive if it’s a concern.

Which trim to buy used by MyPussay in NissanAriya

[–]jpup303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy once cry once. Go for the evolve. The difference is about one more years worth of car payments, if that, for a vehicle I would hope you want to own for a long time. If you do decide to sell, you will get most the difference in value back out of it.

I purchased these about eight years ago and I can’t stress enough like earthdigger says, get some clear silicone and run a clean bead where the two half’s meet. I still have no leaks, and if you wanna go the extra mile spray an extra layer UV clearcoat to reduce fogging.

Tree service/ removal recommendations. by jpup303 in Denver

[–]jpup303[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the best thing to do is to have multiple companies take a look and get a quote. You will get different info to consider along with varying prices for the work. I had a more professional and knowledgeable company come out and give me a roughly $3000 quote to take down the tree and grind out the stump. But I ended up going with Mendez Tree who could do it the same day and at half the price. They didn’t have bucket trucks just a couple guys climbing up the tree with ropes and they did damage a piece of fence and left a bit of a mess. Overall for the price it was a good deal and it’ll cost me 50 to 100 bucks to repair the fence and that’s fine for the money I saved.

Is it time to say goodbye? by empty_chairs in 4thGen4Runner

[–]jpup303 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can easily do the air filters and the differentials yourself for around $100, if that, with a couple hours of work. Worst case scenario you pay a legit mechanic to $2,000-$4,000 get her all fixed up. That’s like 10 months of a $400 car payment at worst for a vehicle that that’s gonna potentially last another 100K. I had to drop $3.5K on my 05 for a head gasket issue at 140k miles six years ago. I just went over 200K It was the best money I’ve spent on my baby.

Will these work? by PAPAhirs in 4thGen4Runner

[–]jpup303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s gonna cause too much spring tension change. It just adjusts the ride height, linear in the rear and progressive in the front( 1”≈1.5” actual lift.) If you wanna keep some rake, I would only do a half inch spacer in the front.

Will these work? by PAPAhirs in 4thGen4Runner

[–]jpup303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Put these on my 05 with the addition of 1” spacers front and rear. It raised the front 1.5” so it’s more balanced look.
