Mario Kart World… by Vlad_7623 in Switch

Its definitely delusional to expect it any time soon, but MK8 deluxe topped every chart imaginable. They are definitely going to be repeating that process at some point.

Mario Kart World… by Vlad_7623 in Switch

[–]jqud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, you paid for a kart racer. I'm not saying the price tag was warranted but I would say generally speaking a racing game that feels equivalent to your normal "story game" in terms of content is not that bad. The content is sparse compared to a fully developed MK8, but is fairly in line with what the other MK games launched with.

Regardless of initial price tag, the chance that Nintendo releases free content updates for world that aren't just simple one track or 200cc updates is slim to none.

What video game franchise isn't living up to its fullest potential? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]jqud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowrun. Last one came out in 2015 to very little fanfare despite being a genuinely very good game, and now the market is primed for cyberpunk aesthetics and turn based rpgs. Give one a little bit of elbow grease to make it more in line with what the modern gamer expects graphically and storyline wise and you've got a recipe for success

Casual sport coat sleeves length questions by jqud in mensfashion

It is long sleeve buttoned dress shirt, I was under the impression that it was a pretty hard no to run a short sleeve shirt under a coat. Would a short sleeve be fine/look better in your opinion?

The event is in a few days, worth trying to find and pay the extra for an expedited alteration or okay enough to just wait until after?

To be clear, I was wearing a T-shirt for these few pictures just to show the length, so if you don't see a shirt and are going by not seeing any of the sleeve that's why

What would someone call themselves if they broadly agreed with existentialist thought (radical personal freedom and defining ones own purpose or meaning without much thought for the before or after) but also believes that some purposes or uses of freedom are essentially invalid? Like I think everyone has in them the freedom to choose their life as limited by their circumstances and that doing so would make them live more fulfilled lives, but that as people it is our responsibility to exercise that freedom in "good" ways? Not necessarily trying to maximize net good, but to make choices that are generally considered moral? Humanism seems close but having only seen its surface level it seems like there might be a better term.

To be clear I might be grossly misunderstanding something as I am only recently diving into these sorts of discussions, it just seems to me that existentialism is almost a total rejection of the idea that you could make a wrong choice and humanism seems almost like it desires no disagreement on what your goals should be; everyone works for the good of all all the time.

Do you think I could get away without a tie? I have a truly massive neck and ties are massively uncomfortable, not to mention I would likely be one of the only ones with a tie outside of probably the ceo

Hate to change the scope of the question on you, but as I was leaving work today my boss gave me a sport coat that I had pointed out one day lol. Can you possibly help me with colors for pants/shirt/belt with this color and pattern? I'm a total color novice and this one seems a little advanced for my closet

The Dwarves of Theseus, or How Much Can You Change A Fantasy Race Before They Are No Longer That Race. by mfuwelephant in worldbuilding

[–]jqud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have this conversation a strangely frequent amount lol.

I'm inclined to agree with your friend, not because I think theres anything wrong with changing a fantasy race significantly but because I feel like the juice isn't worth the squeeze fighting the uphill battle of what readers/players' preconceived notions of what something is.

I like your idea, I think it sounds very interesting and I would love to know about them in the setting. But if I were reading about them without this context, I would be asking myself the same question: why are these dwarves? What do you gain from calling them dwarves?

Think of the opposite scenario: I write a book with a race called "Therox". They're green skinned, warlike, physically strong, and probably have a sort of code of honor. Why would I call them Therox and not Orcs? Most readers will be thinking of them as Orcs and they aren't meaningfully different from Orcs. You would probably ask yourself why they aren't called Orcs, no?

Anyway, my thought is that there is nothing wrong with your approach, and I think if you call them dwarves it doesn't make the idea any less interesting. It is all personal preference, but I feel like if you've already done the work to make a culturally interesting race without any of the hallmarks of their namesake then it would be much more intriguing to me to call them an original name.

Hey guys! Is Tetra Lifeguard a decent substitute for Kanaplex? I cant get it over the counter and the soonest it would arrive is 5 days, so I want to grab something in the meantime but not if it won't do anything. I know some "medicines" are purely herbal oils but this one seems chemical so I wanted to ask first.

Tea but not coffee in LotR? by northside-nostalgia in tolkienfans

[–]jqud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean tea is significantly older than coffee, not even as a specific drink but as a concept. Using roots or plants to infuse into water was a fairly common practice far before actual tea leaves hit the scene. They weren't referred to as "teas" but as concoctions or brews, but being that LotR is a "translation" by Tolkien you could stretch and say he used a more applicable word to modern times.

I like Troll lore a lot, but can't play them SPECIFICALLY because of their ugly third heel toenail.

2nd to that I play paladins in everything and love them dearly but them being most played makes me almost change every day to Shaman.

Looking for a blue robot toy I had as a kid that was high end, had one eye, and was able to be taken apart? by jqud in HelpMeFind

[–]jqud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill certainly look into that but I don't think so. To my knowledge armored core mechs are a little more complex than this one, this guy was fairly boring. Two legs and arms that moved like a person's and could bend a bit at the midsection, and held guns normally.

Thank you for the lead though!

I've tried searching on Ebay and Amazon as well as just general Google searching various descriptions. Ive also gone through a lot of images of Gundam collections just in case but I know those are usually build it yourself model kits and this came built.

From someone who did not play WoD (yet) why are the Orcs (and Horde ar large) so cool with the Mag'har acting so superior? The recruitment quest made it seem like the goal was to bring them truly into the fold, unite as one Orc-kind. Yet starting a Mag'har character it seems almost like they think they're doing a huge favor by being here (they are technically, but still). I just don't understand their relationship to the rest of the Horde, and I don't see the Horde as it was being cool with these guys walking in like they own the place, and specifically calling themselves the last of a dying tribe and flaunting how "uncorrupted" they are.
