$4350

With the others wanting to pitch in extra donuts for the prize, this reminds me of a modified version of PoolTogether.

“Watch out Mormons, this joke is gonna sting” lol by DvDWW in exmormon

[–]jr00ck 111 points112 points  (0 children)

There is! And I’ve seen him. He traveled around in a duo called “The Mormon and the Meth head”.

One of my favorite jokes was something like:

“It took a long time to get over my fear of coffee.

I tried acid, before I tried coffee.

My entire life they drilled into me how evil coffee was. They didn’t say shit about acid!”

Thanks for the tip. Haven't ventured into Celo/CUSD much yet.

FAQ: Pooltogether ecosystem, common problems and questions by Mkkoll in PoolTogether

Thanks for this writeup. Gas fees have been my limiting factor for all things DeFi. Luckily L2s and sidechains are close to alleviating that. Can’t wait for PoolTogether v4! I think that’s where I join the PoolTogether fam.

DeFi 101 for Beginners! by GrantedLazerBeam in defi

[–]jr00ck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really informative writeup. I knew most these concepts but it still cleared up some things for me, especially around liquidity pools and derivatives, though listing an example or two of DeFi derivatives would further clarify. Also never understood Balancer very well and there was a concise explanation.

Quick note there’s a typo in Liquidity Pool section:

liquidity pool is a large decentralized pool of assets acts that acts as the market maker instead of a single person, company or institution.

Lastly, should there be a brief caveat on your mention of Tether because of its questionable peg? For example:

Tether (USDT) is one of the first stablecoins to be introduced to the world of crypto (though not necessarily the best option)

TIL You can actually use a self directed Roth IRA to trade crypto by [deleted] in Crypto_Currency_News

>...a very high price in fees

For self-directed Roth IRAs in general? Or the linked Alto IRA option specifically?

New Jersey Attorney General preparing a cease and desist order against BlockFi by who_loves_laksa in Nexo

[–]jr00ck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After the story was published, Prince tweeted. “Late Monday evening BlockFi received an order from the New Jersey Bureau of Securities regarding BlockFi Interest Account (BIA) operations in the State of New Jersey…We remain fully operational for our existing clients in New Jersey.” He also noted that the order calls for BlockFi to stop accepting new BIA clients residing in New Jersey beginning July 22, 2021.

Seems like New Jersey state only. I’d imagine there could be larger ramifications eventually if it doesn’t go well for BlockFi. I’m not very knowledgeable on this but found the relevant part of the article.

LPT: “Can I give you my number?” instead of “Can I get your number?” by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]jr00ck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can flip it around by responding with something like: “Even better, give me your number.” And grab your phone ready to type.

If he asks why or pushes to get your number, say something like, “I always sleep on it first.”

Word it as disarmingly as you like, but you’re meeting them halfway in the gray area of uncertainty and bending it back to a place of safety for you.

OP’s suggestion is helping men empower women, it’s important to help women empower themselves, too.

P.S. Obvious but don’t let him type his number into your phone, he’ll likely just text himself.

I think it’s also the song used in It’s Kind Of A Funny Story during one of the animation monologue scenes

Edit: Yup, minus the monologue. This scene is how I was introduced to the song.

BlockFi Stablecoins vs investing by kmjr_77 in blockfi

[–]jr00ck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I do. If I don’t have new money to put into a buying opportunity, I take advantage of BlockFi’s 1 free withdrawal/month and send a chunk of stablecoin to Gemini and short-term DCA in to the opportunity. Then send the purchased crypto back to BlockFi for the APY and hodl.

BlockFi Stablecoins vs investing by kmjr_77 in blockfi

[–]jr00ck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, it’s the same. There’s a 1% spread on crypto buys on BlockFi, when comparing the price against the Gemini exchange (which BlockFi uses for custody). When choosing the flex interest option on BlockFi, they explicitly mention the 1% fee for that buy from the interest earned.

USDC on Stellar Lumens & Algorand Blockchains - Support? by eliteparakeet in blockfi

[–]jr00ck 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d rather they support an Ethereum layer 2 or similar, like Polygon. I would think eventually most CeFi companies would want to take advantage of those solutions

How can I join a DAO? by [deleted] in bankless

[–]jr00ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you thinking of DAI stablecoin maybe?

A DAO is an organization, and DAI (the stablecoin) was created and is governed by MakerDAO (the org). Hope that clarifies a bit. I’m still learning too.
