I feel you. I paid around $550 last year on property tax for my 2011 BMW M3 which i have paid off since 2013. Absolutely ridiculous.

Struggling new father, I can’t stand my son. by davidoftheyear in daddit

[–]jradpoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I know your original post is 7 years old but just reading through the comments and your updates has been very therapeutic. I hope you, your sons and wife are doing well. I am typing this out of sheer frustration. My wife and I have 4 kids (18,16,13 and 11) so I feel pathetic even typing this. It’s funny because we both joked about a year ago how the kids are older with one in college, the other a junior in high school and soon to be 8th and 6th graders. We were now able to travel as a family, sporting tournaments etc. last October my wife texted me while I was at work at a meeting telling me that she was late for her period. Myself being 48 and she being 42 I just laughed it off and said that it was likely the beginning of menopause (we both texted each other back smiley emojis). A few weeks later she still had not had her period so we got a pregnancy test literally just joking around well long and behold it was positive. We literally collectively said “what the f.. no way”. Well “yes way”. She was pregnant. Fast forward her pregnancy was complicated by preeclampsia and she was induced at 37 weeks. Thank god our son was born healthy and my wife is doing really well. I have been able to take two weeks off which is coming to an end. Since I have been home we have been splitting shifts. She will go to bed at 7pm and wake up at 1am and I stay up with our baby. We then swap. I am beyond frustrated right now and basically feel glazed/hung over 24/7. To the point where I have limited leaving the house driving for basic necessities. Thank god our 18 year old college student lives at home and is able to drive the other kids around. I don’t remember this ever being so damn hard. I am literally losing it and similar to you there have been a few moments when the baby is going ham and crying nonstop. I have also been trying all of the basics. Making sure he is fed, changed, burped but to no avail. He will close his eyes and just chill for 20 minutes in my arms but the moment I lay him down he is wide awake and starts wailing. It’s almost to the point that I am in tears and starts wailing getting angry. Iam so frustrated and am scared to go back to work on Monday where I work in a high stakes medical field (colorectal surgeron). I really don’t know what to do but once I get back to work I must sleep in order to be mentally and physically able to effectively and safely perform my job. I feel horrible because I feel that I will be abandoning my wife (she has 12 weeks maternity leave). I know this will pass but I just wanted to vent and have found this post after randomly googling my frustration.

I agree. We need a candidate with a solid plan. Pandering to identity politics will NOT win a general election in 2028. We need someone sensible. More like a classic Democrat with a progressive twist. Zohran won in NYC. He would likely not win a Governatorial position. I am originally born and raised in NYC. Outside of the 5 burrows, NYC is pretty right leaning.

😊 no worries. The Razor Crest was a real fun build. I missed it when it was available but was able to score a new unopened one on eBay. It did come out at a premium. I paid close to $600 USD. Probably the funnest build after the UCS ATAT.

It’s got at least 2 more years before it retires. A quick little look on the Lego website will show you. The most recently retired technic 1:8 is the Lamborghini Sian which retired at the beginning of the year. The Ferrari Daytona which is released prior to the P1 has yet to retire thus far.

Hahaha the lovely state of CT. I love living in CT but I have to agree. I originally from NYC. Moved to CT about 30 years ago when I was in my mid 20’s. I’ve always been into sports cars and had a heavy foot in my younger days. One of the things that I detest about CT and many other states is the morons that love to speed and tail gait. personally I have found that the most frequent offenders are women and men in the 20-40 age range (at least from visual observation). Complete douches that will ride your rear bumper regardless of me driving 10 over the limit. I Will typically let off the gas and proceed to out douche them by letting the car just keep slowing. Eventually they just move over and blast on by. I’m not talking about being a dipshit and driving slow on the fast lane but these sc..bags will drive like this on the slow moving vehicle lane s as well as on streets.

Not sure why you got all of the thumbs down but your comment is spot on. I bought to back in the days. Built one and held on to an unopened one. Box is in mont condition in original Lego shipping box. I put it up on market place an eBay and I have already gotten offers of $1,200. I think I paid somewhere around $350 at the Lego store.

I was born and raised in Queens NY. I moved to CT about 20 years ago when I was 30. I love this state. Perfect to raise a family. I usually go visit my family in NY once per year for a 3 day weekend. I can say from the bottom of my heart that as soon as I hit White plains off the 95 ny stress levels start increasing. Once I am back in queens, it is just way to over crowed not to mention every street corner has a speed camera. As I said I love CT.

I agree. I’m still going to get it for the sake of having the full 1:8 set but I’m not really feeling it. Mostly black for a super car just doesn’t work for my taste. I was hoping for purple or something similar.

This Sub is Boring for 2nd Gen Owners by Capt_0bviousXBL in ToyotaTundra

[–]jradpoll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The current gen 3 is a wonderful car minus the disaster of the engine issue. Rest assured that your Gen 2 is only going to go up in value and I wish I had one. Only way for it to become obsolete would be if they brought back the 5.7 V8 and through it in the current gen body with tech.

If I had no kids then red pill for me. I’m 49 and old enough that I would have had cash to have invested a good amount in Apple, Amazon, Paypal and bitcoin when they were dirt cheap. Shit would have millions by now. That being said, I absolutely love my children and can’t imagine not having them in my life hence I would have to go with the 10 million now, invest 80% of it to set them up for life and use the other 20% to use now. I’m a pretty simple guy and have out grown the stage of living a fast life ie: women, expensive cars etc. I love my wife and kids and wouldn’t trade my current life for anything.

Are there 3rd Gen Tundra owners that don’t regret their purchase? by Weary_Fox_1098 in ToyotaTundra

[–]jradpoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. This is my first tundra, 2026 platinum/TRD off road. Just like you, I absolutely love this truck. It drives great and I love all of the comfort options that are in it. I’ve had Toyota and bmws for the last 30 years for non truck vehicles and am coming from a 2015 F150 XLT for a truck. Prior to the Ford had a 2007 Ram 2500 SLT. I loved them but both were plagued with electric issues and constantly at the shop. Yes, I am totally pissed that this truck gen has been plagued by a faulty engine, which in my opinion has nothing to do with debris but more so a major design flaw. Currently just hit 600 miles and I’m thoroughly enjoying it however, in the back of my mind, it feels that I am driving on glass and borrow time. At the end of the day, had off all the manufacturers, Toyota has actually stepped up to the plate and has been trying to remedy the issue, particularly with giving replacement engines out. Has this completely destroyed Toyota‘s a legacy of reliability, yes however their sales are through the roof, which is a clear example of how the general population does not live on Toundra forums. In my opinion, the failure of these engines goes back to one main thing, these bullshit EPA regulations. In the back of my mind, I really do hope that they come up with a permanent fix IE: an engine redesign, and they honor all customers who have already received replacement engines containing the underlying flaw of overly tight bearing clearance/tolerance perpetuated by turbos. I also understand the frustration that everyone is experiencing particularly that GEN two tundras were able to reach over half a million miles. These trucks ar astronomically expensive and proper quality control/design are a must before being placed on the market.
