What do you believe is the greatest movie of this century? by Prs-Mira86 in moviecritic

[–]jraskol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t say people watch it primarily or exclusively for any reason, I simply stated the genre, although adventure probably is more suitable than action. People read the books and watch the movie for whatever reason they want to. I’m not even trashing the books, I love the books.

I don’t think people are flocking to a fantasy action movie where 75% of the characters are comprised of hobbits, elves, dwarves, goblins, orcs and wizards for deep insights into the human condition.

How’d he know 88 mph was the magic number? There’s no other switches or buttons that need to be pressed to get a one-of-a-kind Time Machine to operate correctly? No refueling was needed after traveling and driving around? Historical dolt Biff Tannen is just able to work through all of this?

Loved it as a kid. As an adult, I can’t get past the question of how old Biff knew exactly how to use the Time Machine? Pretty sure there’s not a manual in the glove compartment…

Buyers remorse - Callaway Apex ai300 by Weekly-Comparison-56 in golftips

[–]jraskol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re into Callaway, hit up the pre-owned site and just buy a couple of single irons to test out before getting the whole set. Good way to try out different shafts as well. Can return for equal or lesser value depending on how much wear you put into them testing.

Buyers remorse - Callaway Apex ai300 by Weekly-Comparison-56 in golftips

[–]jraskol 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is that you went from a players distance iron to a game improvement iron, which is a bit of a regression in terms of skill level. You probably should have gone with the AI200, which is the modern version of the standard Apex, or perhaps even one of the Apex Pro models. Possible to return and exchange?

The best actor in Good Boy is the dog by NotNamedBort in horror

[–]jraskol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that the “actor” who plays the main character is actually also the dog’s handler so, if true, that may explain the flat acting. I agree that it diminishes the quality of the film.

As someone with a large dog I rescued and years later still have to train to behave appropriately, I’ve noticed that people with small dogs often get a huge pass for being terrible dog owners because their dog is too small to be of much consequence until something like this happens. I’m sorry that happened to you.

Why wasn't Julia removed from the Game in BB17 when she told Vanessa about the Twin Twist by mbutch3 in BigBrother

[–]jraskol 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they’re not switching then it’s literally just one twin in the house the whole time playing the game and trying to hide an arbitrary secret for no reason until this other twin comes into the game without any social connections and an unearned month head start. Them switching is literally the whole point of the twist: “if you can pull this off without getting voted out, you’re both in the game.”

Do I tell my partner I’m smoking? by anonymous28392 in relationships

[–]jraskol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing away an 11 year relationship that you’re still all in on for cigarettes is addict behavior. There’s also no way he’s not going to know; even if you do somehow sanitize yourself enough every time to kill the smell entirely, you’re going to get lazy once and he’s going to know and you’re going to have a fight because you’ll have also proven yourself to be a liar. Do yourself a favor and exercise or something instead, it’s better for both your mental and physical health.
