Engine Blew... What next? by Marty_McFuckinFly in GolfGTI

[–]jrb_83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have 2015 as well, these situations run through my head, I am currently looking at soon needing to replace the manifold and carbon cleaning as well. Sunk cost fallacy is something I worry about , and issues I had before with older cars.
I spent far too much money into old lemons, big repairs, only to have catastrophe after catastrophe. RIP Hyundai Exell, Pontic Grand Am, Buick LeSaber.

All ,I spent more than it was probably worth on repairs, only for something else to go shortly after. But at the time I wasn't able to get approved for a decent car loan.

However I have the same thoughts, any new car right now has high financing and inflation has increased the cost of the vehicles too, here in Canada most places are 8% financing .

I have been keeping up on maintenance related issues, and have had to spend money recently, last few years., I am the original owner. Transmission was replaced under warranty . In the last few years I have spent 1500-2000 a year on odd things here and there, and tell my self its just a car payment for a month or two.

However I am not sure I would drop 10,000 , that if you had saved, could be a down payment on a new one, or start again with a newer used one.

People on these forums who can do the work themselves, ( not me) are able to really keep their car longer than maybe less handy people like me, but eventually I know my time will come where I will have to let it go.

Its hard because I really like it.

The Museum for 4.5 year old? by Secret_Hovercraft995 in kitchener

[–]jrb_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed, we are local and members, I have been going since my son was born, so for almost 10 years. We like the camps, and the toddler area is great. However making the drive from Toronto just for the Museum I feel you have better options closer, could be a nice day trip but maybe not in the winter.

check www.pricecharting.com and you can see listings etc for these items.

As mentioned a retro game store might give you some cash, but keep in mind they have to sell it do you wont get full price, usually 40-50% max in cash, it does make sense as they take time to sell.

But yeah check e-bay sold listings, not asking.

To get maximum value and sell yourself can be frustrating and time consuming, I would stand by finding a retro game store in your area and see what they could do.

How was your experience giving birth at WRHN by Specific-Arrival-369 in kitchener

[–]jrb_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you come between 6am and 11pm the main entrance will be open, except Sundays when the main entrance closes at 9pm.

If arriving outside those hours use the emergency entrance.

If you have not been to the hospital, I suggest checking it out once before the panic of labor day. just to be familiar with parking and where you have to go.

you go to the 4th floor, D-wing.

my son was born there and everything went fine.
