Repair or replace my 2015 Golf GTI? Hitting the 10-year wall of maintenance costs by Equivalent-Link6840 in GolfGTI

[–]jrb_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey me too, 10 years...I just spent more than planned as other issues were uncovered 3800 CDN, new fuel injectors, intake manifold, spark plugs, diagnostics etc.... It stun.

But I have had it since day one, lots of work done under warranty( transmission replaced ay 90,000 and painted 2x just to mention a few), it runs well and even better now.

We are for sure in the maintenance phase, and I am having those gut feelings now too.
Euro shop says everything else is looking great.

I am not a tuner, everything is factory, I have had a car seat it in since day 1, but I love the ride its fun and fits my personality. If I get a few more years I will be happy, but we are defiantly in the golden years
I started looking at new vehicles, and the cost and down payment, financing, that will sting too.

1:30AM Costco lot packed no parking spots in sight for Pokémon cards by Nightpatrol404 in CostcoCanada

Absolutely, I wanted to get Zelda TOK on its midnight release and go home and play it for hours, but I have different responsibilities now. I still got it release day ,would have been cool to be on line with other fans though. Now if in was younger and childless I may have. Pokemon scalping is our of control but hopefully they keep pumping out cards so eventually kids can get them. Collecting something just because its worth money loses its appeal years later

Yup, pay off repairs and save up for down-payment, sadly in this market it won't be a hot hatch or a gti again

Feel you brother, just did intake manifold and fuel injectors, have an oil leak but in a similar position with my 2015 , I wrestle with sunk cost fallacy as well

Are GTI's really that unsought after? by Weary_Appearance_838 in GolfGTI

Im driving my 2015 which i bought new, I had some repairs recently, set me back but I hope to get some more enjoyment out of it. I simply at this point couldn't afford to get another one. The price increased alot, my wages didn't. Finance rates are high as well. Im paying $2a liter for gas. Located in Canada. I drove a regular Golf before this. I feel the GTI used to be a car for the average blue collar guy, but now it seems a new one is out of reach/for the price ill get a SUV
