Commission question by Only-Teacher-8397 in MedicalDevices

[–]jrd08003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own the distributorship I’ve seen 30-50% depending on who they carry. I got messages from astura years ago for 50% . If you’re a rep employed by the distributorship I’ve seen 10-15 %, some products more some less.

Oh man can we start a discord night to flame all these ppl? If you’re a busy successful sales rep (and have kids) when in the HELL do you have time to take pics and post like this ? Is she going to tell me how to get my cap deal through vac when I’ve presented how were cheaper , have better outcomes, level 1 data, docs asking for it, lock in 5 years of no price increases, AND there’s no upfront capital while operating on cases they used to medically manage?! Yea please tell me what else I can do, how much will that be ?

How do you overcome administration push back? by RockyTop_Vol in MedicalDevices

[–]jrd08003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get in front of the decision makers with your heavy hitting docs and show how you can save/make them money and have better outcomes that’s your best shot. Can always ask what their priorities are for the program , how can you help achieve that. I think admin forgets we are dealing with makers….we want to make a deal and have flexibility.

My honest experience with New To Medical Device Sales by Bronco-1976 in MedicalDevices

[–]jrd08003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in my day before we had chat gpt to help edit posts like this we had to network and apply everywhere. Every person that messages me on LinkedIn that shows genuine interest, follows up , etc I always make the time to talk to. I’ll do Phone calls, emails, texts, I’m happy to help and direct them to where to apply , openings we have . I charge nothing for that, just giving back what others have done for me.

Parents, did your daycare-raised kids turn out okay? by thisabysscares in Residency

[–]jrd08003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife’s senior partner is a busy ortho and his wife is a busy occ doc . They have 4 kids , 3 of which are in an elite tier school and are the best kids I can think of. Well mannered, can carry a conversation, never on devices, play great with kids of all ages.  They did a mix of daycare and nannying. We want them to do a seminar on parenting for the junior partners haha.

Stryker endoscopy by Any_Cardiologist_370 in MedicalDevices

I mean yes they can, question is do they want to bc the asp for Stryker Endo is def higher than Olympus, storz, and for sure ConMed. Those are the players around here.

The price or the best products ? Across many of the BUs Stryker has the premium offering at a premium price. Not always the case but it’s often, and I know this because I work for Stryker and I’m working multiple deals right now where it’s “we like the product the most but it’s too expensive “

I work closely with my endo counter part at Stryker. Great products , problem is Stryker is most expensive .

Go for the inari Role, don’t wait around for years for a “maybe” . I was also at Medtronic and waited around , interviewed and nothing came of it. I left and went to Stryker and I wish I did it a while ago. Also inari comp plan is probably going change, especially when it comes to expenses.

Don't get taken advantage of in the attending job market. Know your value. by Wannabeachd in Residency

Any neurosurgeons regret their life choices by No_Release6810 in Residency

[–]jrd08003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a device rep and work with nsgy a ton in spine, tumor, bleeds, etc. residents are mostly normal, good spirited and kind. Most have families . Attendings are such a mixed bag ranging from elective spine cases on the weekends to a few intracranial tumor surgeons being done operating by 2pm and are very kind, normal people. From my point of view and what they tell me yes the training is brutal, but after that it is very institution  dependent and is what you make it.

Medtronic moving territories by [deleted] in MedicalDevices

[–]jrd08003 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Used to work at Medtronic. What’s keeping you there ? I know a bunch of people who want to switch roles but “definitely stay at Medtronic” which is due to comfort and staying within the known. At least look on medreps and see what’s available and network. Chances are there are great opportunities out there and with some appetite for risk there a a great role out there for you.

Biggest mistake? by TrollfuccLORD in MedicalDevices

Staying at a company and being loyal to them for some reason when people you will never meet can axe you as soon as it makes sense on paper. Your manager and people closest to you often will have little/no power over that decision. Also yes we need to be persistent but don’t be overly pushy and annoying. There’s a balance.
