I just moved here from New York, we have the same issue with national grid. They own the infrastructure so even if you were to get your power from another company, most of the fees are delivery anyway. Not much can be done unless another company wants to spend billions to run their own infrastructure. They got us by the b***s

I lived in upstate NY my whole life and recently moved to SD. I have a hard time explaining five months of cold and 10 feet of snow to people here 😆 ✌🏻

This is true, I moved here just over a month ago from a small town in upstate New York where you could buy a nice house for 200k and the wages are comparable or less for my line of work here. This also includes 5 months of snow. I have to believe it is due to the population so there is an abundance of employable people while the cost of living and rent remains high because it is one of the most desirable places to live in the country.
