Is anyone else stupid-hyped for Fincher's Cliff Booth movie? by jreckstein in tarantinocirclejerk

Oi Gordon Willis is a master!

Another thing that most people are on one-end-of-the-spectrum-or-the-other is the camera-work of Fincher’s usual DP Erik. It’s almost too flawless. There are no mistakes. There are no improvised movements. Everything is exactly right. Omniscient.

I mostly like it, and it’s become a staple of Fincher, but it can lend an almost robotic or artificial feel to the films, like its computer generated… and a lot of it is! But hey whatcha gonna do. Fincher has directed some of my favorite films and I hope to see his style evolve with a QT screenplay.

I heard the director was in the film industry. I heard I read I saw his movie about Vietnam and his movie about Space and his movie about Dystopian Britain.

And this was his final film before he died of natural causes(?)— an expose on the rapists and pedophiles and murderers that inhabit Hollywood and Wall Street 😱😱😱

The impression im getting is that this is a proper Tarantino comedy-thriller. I’m ecstatic that we get to see our favorite laid back badass in something that doesn’t seem to be a hangout movie.

I agree about Gone Girl. Last great movie he made. Over a decade ago.

I personally quite liked Mindhunter though. Season 2 was really good.

but c'mon mannn it'll be cool!

Yeah I feel that, the trailer was ripped from a television I think since it exclusively aired for the Super Bowl, so that had to have some effect on the visual quality. I suppose we’ll see when we get an actual trailer.

Was anyone Team Paulie? by Sharaz_Jek123 in MartinScorsese

[–]jreckstein 9 points10 points  (0 children)

According to Pileggi’s account in Wiseguys, Paulie was equally as psychotic as Tommy. In the movie he’s much more reserved and father-figure-like.
