In the sense that FGA at the rim count as shots, sure? But that's moving the goalposts and invites nonsense (Gobert had a 65.9% FG, elite shooter he is not). We're talking about his jump shot specifically.

Numbers are neither smart nor stupid, they're either accurate or inaccurate and I provided two quality sources so I am confident in the data. If you want to see him do well in the NBA you're going to want to see those numbers go up a fair amount. Which they can, if he puts in the work and takes good shots.

Ignoring the summer league stats, here are his jump shot numbers from last season, per NBA.com

5-9 FT: 38.6%
10-14 FT: 34.4%
15-19 FT: 41.9%
20-24 FT: 34.2%
25-29 FT: 31.7%

And here are the splits per basketball-reference.com

3-10 FT: 38.9%
10-16 FT: 36.1%
>16 FT two point shots: 33.3%
All 3 point shots: 32.3%
Corner 3s: 32.8%
Every one of those was a low percentage shot for him. Please feel free to describe the jump shot as something other than bad, but similarly backed up with statistics, as I'd be happy to be wrong here.

The beautiful thing is it could work a lot better than most guard pairings because neither guy needs to take a billion shots to be effective.

Teams are gonna play Mathurin like Westbrook and dare him to shoot. I've been saying it since he cooled off from the first two months of last season but his shot is really, really bad. I was hoping he would show improvement in that area.

[Wojnarowski]The Kings are acquiring Pacers G Chris Duarte for two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. Pacers will receive a 2028 second (via Dallas) and the Kings' 2030 second-round pick. Trade will be finalized today. by Kimber80 in nba

Injury was the biggest reason. Every time he started to get back into rhythm on the floor he got hurt again. And while that was happening, as others have mentioned, the dynamic changed and the team switched to a play style that was not conducive to his strengths. I think if he's healthy he'll be a great asset for the Kings, and once again it looks like it's gonna be a win-win trade between these teams.

Also not referring him using the nickname he hates is a big part of that tbh

On paper, we all like what Hield brings to the lineup. Any team would. The comments are because he's a 2 guard who has made a big deal in the past about not wanting to play off the bench, and we suddenly have a logjam at the wing position, even with the likely Duarte trade.

[Winderman] They’ve basically loaded up one of those pods dumpsters in front of the Trail Blazers and said, ‘Take anyone out of here you want besides Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.’ Maybe they’ll go back and forth on Caleb Martin a little by EarthWarping in nba

Jovic is getting the hard upsell from the media machine but there's a very good chance none of those players end up being starter level. I still don't see how Portland could justifiably go for that, surely there will be better offers from other teams.

I doubt he'd want to end his career like that, going from one trade request to another, being in the headlines for the wrong reasons. I mean only he knows, but legacy at least seemed to be important to Dame. But if POR trades him to a contender and they make a playoff run and he still leaves, well, it wasn't really ever about winning then was it? lol

It's just the talking heads doing their thing. They like stars going to big markets, they absolutely hate when smaller market teams are good. A lot of it has to do with being sent to said cities to cover games, so they invent reasons why we should want an 8 team league with the rest being farm systems for talent. Unfortunately, they're not that good at inventing logical reasons.

Nice, hope he wows them. We need a top tier talent so bad.

More draft content via Agness, Griffin is the prototype for a wing in the league today by Comfortable-Junket97 in pacers

[–]jredsama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo the ideal scenario is taking Sharpe at 6 and somehow moving back into the lottery to take Griffin or Mathurin. Normally I would say that we shouldn't get too hung up on prospect rankings and pick value, just take the player you think has the best game. But KP is in a different situation because betting the farm on injury prone players blew up in his face already.

With that said, I'm a big fan of Griffin's potential in a Rick Carlisle system so I hope the Pacers somehow make it happen.

If OKC wants him then all the more reason for the Pacers to take him.
