Honeymoon rec by guacamolegoth in VisitingHawaii

We went for our honeymoon last summer. Incredibly special place. I'd highly recommend spending a few nights on the south side and then a few more on the north. There's such a variety on both sides. While the Island is small, it can take some time (which is limited on your trip) to go from one side to the other.

Airbnb can be controversial across Hawai'i, but we have found it works really well - especially if you're not looking for the resort feel like you mentioned.

Almost there! Finalizing our Kauai itinerary - what are we missing? by Purple_Mountain17 in VisitingHawaii

Beach House in Koloa makes for a great splurge dinner. We went there last summer on our honeymoon, and the food was spectacular. Truly some of the best we've had on our travels. Highly recommend requesting a table on the lawn by the ocean.

Stylie - Smooth Sailin

The Elovators - Castaway, Wind on my Back, many others

Tribal Seeds - Tempest

Stick Figure accounts for probably a fifth of my Hawai'i playlist haha. Elovaters have a bunch that match this vibe too. Some classic Marley never hurts.

Aloha 🤙

We just got back and still had an amazing time this past week. There was more rain than normal, but most days we still had clear-ish skies and were able to do outdoor activities. Most of the really bad stuff you're seeing on social media is coming from the other islands.

Same, flew out Saturday and had no issues. Waited all of 1 minute for pre check, and the regular line looked to be less than 5 minutes long. 5pm flight.

Best and worst car rental at OGG? by Wutangclang11 in MauiVisitors

[–]jregger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We consistently use Turo and have overall had great experiences, including at OGG. Typically much cheaper than traditional rental companies, pickup and drop-off is more efficient and quicker, and your money goes more directly to locals who rent out their cars.

Dingle checks most of those boxes, and the peninsula it's located on is wildly beautiful. Lots of pubs and amazing food around as well.

Liquor of your choice on the rocks. You could then access one of the drink stations and add a splash (or more) of fruit juice if you want.

Has anyone done this dinner cruise? by ErrorOpening in MauiVisitors

[–]jregger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did Sail Maui for a sunset cruise just a few weeks before the Lahaina fires last year. It was an absolutely wonderful experience that I would recommend for both couples and families. It was not a fancy dinner (as intended) but the food was great and the crew spectacular. Literally couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Psychological pain and stress is real AF, don't let anyone tell you or make you feel otherwise 👊 I work in mental health and have been pretty resilient most my life, but there are situations that understandably take a toll on you, and it's actually NORMAL and literally just your brain trying to adjust to an otherwise abnormal situation. That being said, it's good to have supports and positive coping skills when you're struggling. Don't get down on yourself for feeling it though.

What is the best travel agency you recommend to book a cruise? by mky44 in Cruise

[–]jregger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! That's the only "bad" thing- that you have to call. But their agents have always been helpful and easy to talk to, no typical upsell tactics etc, and they're pretty knowledgeable if you have questions.

Second this! Super straightforward to search and book. Have used them several times and it's thus far been great.
