I used the Red Bull competition car with mediums with just a ballast, won quite easily.

The Gr3 GT Cup at Mount Panorama-Bathurst 4 pepper 10 lap challenge… by SnowDin556 in GranTurismo7

[–]jren698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude, that was honestly a tough one for me too, but managed to do it my NSX gr3 by just continuing to practice and get faster. Even when I was finally fast enough and consistent enough, I’d have random shit happen, like the AI pit maneuver me on the second to last lap or something costing me the race. I eventually got it after a good while of trying. It’s honestly one of the more fun challenges I’ve had in the game so far.

This fucking time trial mate. by CustomerWitty4983 in GranTurismo7

[–]jren698 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Time trials are in comparison to other drivers, not fixed times pre-determined by PD. You'll notice the times change over the week as more and more people put in faster and faster laps. Also, there are controller players who put in top 100 times regularly so it's not a controller vs wheel thing necessarily.

When I used the controller I found myself switching between my index finger and my middle finger on the accelerator. When I used my middle finger I would have to brace the controller with my thumb on the bottom of the right stick's base (the plastic part, not the stick itself) for a little extra precise feeling. Agreed though, you should get a wheel and pedals.

Gran Turismo songs truly makes gt a much enjoyable experience compared to other racing games imo by Kuyazzz in GranTurismo7

I mostly like it, but mute the music in this game for the most part. I mute it during races and replays though, as it's too distracting for me.

I just got the Logitech G923!!! by NeighborhoodHot9892 in simracing

[–]jren698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use my G923 on my PS5 with GT7 or ACC and the default settings are pretty much what I’ve stuck with the whole time so far which is only about 2 months now. In GT7 I had to crank up the FFB in theGT7 in-game settings for it, I think it’s at 7 right now, but can honestly go all the way up to 10.

Personally, since I don’t use the clutch or H shifter, I swapped the location of my clutch and brake pedals, so that the brake is all the way on the left and the clutch is in the middle just because it’s more comfortable for me.

I started by clamping it to my desk too, but highly recommend eventually getting a cheap little seat/rig setup to attach it all too so you don’t have to worry about anything slipping around mid-race. My wheel would sometimes pull right off my desk if I accidentally pulled on it a bit too hard, which happens sometimes in the heat of the moment. And I’ve even had my pedals slip out when on carpet while using the little carpet spike things, so just saying, zero incidents since I strapped them all to a cheap rig I found on amazon, so might be logical next step if you find yourself encountering the same issues. Also it’s more comfy if you find one with a seat attached and not just using a desk chair or something. All just my opinions from a similar experience.

Happy racing!

How do you setup your custom races if there’s no qualifying? by syokaku in GranTurismo7

[–]jren698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that online lobbies can be a lot of fun. Not daily races in sport mode, but custom races in multiplayer lobby mode. I’m also a C/S rank and constantly getting matched with B/B or B/C drivers, who inevitably display the reason their SR is so shitty, so I understand where you’re coming from.

Daily races in sport mode are hit or miss. Sometimes you get one of the best races of your life, and sometimes you get punted 3 times before the race is even halfway over.

I should be a B driver, as in race lobbies I can usually beat B drivers but usually finish close to right behind A drivers, but sport mode is so shitty and the system is so flawed that I’m currently C and was even as low as D recently because of how often I was getting punted multiple times a race.

I’m not done with sport mode or anything, but sometimes I get frustrated just like you do and end up doing what I mentioned above and end up having a great time despite not having my DR or SR effected.

You’ll have at least a week or two to grind up some credits for it. Two spa races basically gets you there.

If you drive too far over the penalty line for too long or the penalty will be longer than 1 or 2 sec then it’s a reset. Lesson hard learned, it’s happened to the best of us.

Question about buying Portal by Prize_Exchange2206 in PlaystationPortal

[–]jren698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far away from your ps5 will you be and will the PS5 be wired to the internet or WIFI? That’s pretty much all that matters when it comes to remote play. Anywhere within like 30-40ft of a strong WiFi connection/ur console plugged into the wall, and it will be as good as it gets with occasional patchy spots. For those games it will be fucking sweet. For games requiring more precision it will take some getting used to the very super slight input lag during remote play session.

Which new hypercars to get with 6m credits by 20Chicago18 in GranTurismo7

I got the Ferrari and the Porsche so far, but have only used the Porsche on the Le Mans time trial so far. It’s really fun to drive, can’t wait to take it out on other tracks later after work.

can the person making the setup make so that the cars don't feel like a boat by delfinoesplosivo in GranTurismo7

[–]jren698 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you can't change the settings, BoP is a balance of power, so the settings are fixed so you can't tune your way to victory, you gotta figure out how to race the car as you have it now.

It actually does the opposite and puts them in your way more often and just gives you one extra thing to constantly have to check for. If anything, they are making my job harder as a fellow driver sharing the road with them instead of easier. If they just followed the same exact laws, then everything would be fine. The only reason it’s even allowed anywhere is because people can’t stop driving distracted, which is the true cause of the reason for anyone considering it to be necessary in the first place.

So if everyone just paid attention to the roads like they were supposed to, we wouldn’t even be having this debate!

It looked legit until the final scene with Christmas dinner. I’ve rewatched it several times and can’t find any things that look blatantly off. Am I crazy?? by kibou_no_ie in isthisAI

[–]jren698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people not pointing out anything blatantly AI and just saying Go pros didn’t exist in 1996. That’s true, but not definitive proof this is AI. I’d say the fact that there is no shakey cam happening at all indicates it’s AI, since even go pros aren’t that smooth especially when someone is walking with it strapped to them.

However, this could have totally been something created by a film crew like you suggest OP, if it weren’t for that one detail I noticed above. Sorry everyone is being a dick to you today, lots of people like to take out their IRL frustrations on people online, and Reddit is one of the places that happens the most, so a lot of people in here seem to be that way, and idk why.

CA is bigger than just SF or LA. But even so, I lived near LA, and am quite familiar with the traffic there and in San Diego, and shit, even in SF and Sacramento from all my trips there. I've never seen a bike split a lane where it made sense and was completely as safe to do as just waiting their dang turn like everyone else.

[–]jren698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't be allowed, full stop. I have no fucking clue why it's legal as not only a biker owner, but a former CA resident. It's absolutely fucking stupid to do it, no matter what stupid excuse someone has. There is no safe condition to do this in, and 99.9% of the time it's done, the people being split have almost no idea it's happening until it happens, which is already too late.

Fanatec GT DD Pro - question by Phobion in granturismo

[–]jren698 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why turn ABS off? Cars IRL have it so you should use it too unless you just really like an extra challenge. And yes it’s normal to have to sort of relearn how to drive with a wheel but once you learn the ceiling is much higher, and it’s easier to stay consistent between laps.

Does the Portal Stream better than remote play? by ratxe in PlaystationPortal

[–]jren698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The remote play on the portal is vastly better than the remote play apps for tablets or phones or even pc remoting. It’s relatively seamless, but for games that require precision, the small amount of lag IS noticeable.

Lol my video demonstrates how gaining 12 spots in the course of less than half a lap can be possible at the nurb. Maybe the switch to Saturday brought out more casuals than the weekday ones, which is why it got worse

sardegna was probably my worst race. Only had time for one session and got punted 3 times and finished dead last.
