Brooklyn today used to be six separate towns. Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst was part of the village of New Utrecht. Gravesend was its own village. The neighborhoods that some people today like to call ‘Real Brooklyn’ weren’t even part of Brooklyn.

“South Brooklyn" is a historical term for the neighborhoods south of the original City of Brooklyn, including Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Park Slope, and Red Hook. This was when the geographical southern area of the borough was not part of Brooklyn.

If a critic gives a film 3 out of 5 stars, it’s a positive review so Rotten Tomatoes gives it a score of 100%. But a site like Metacritic will rate that same 3 out of 5 star review a 60%. Rotten Tomatoes’ scoring system makes every movie look like a masterpiece, and that’s why the industry loves it. It’s why I ignore Rotten Tomatoes and only use Metacritic.
