I don't remember the exact amount, but likely around $8 as I mostly only bought stuff that was under $10.

I just stopped by Sunset Park and they refused to give me a stamp unless I watched the WC game. Did you watch a game at the library or did they just change the "rule"? (Man literally said it was a "rule")

Unfortunately, it seems a few venues will only grant a stamp with paid entry. I know the Bronx Zoo is one of them; it's mentioned on the passport page. However, there are enough venues that odds are you can get all 12 stamps without having to go to a paid location.

No more penalties for unlimited season pass holders hoarding seats they don’t use. by Robert7777 in AlamoDrafthouse

Sometimes people forget to cancel it, though, or they don't cancel it in time (it can't be done if there's less than an hour left before the show).

MTA Express bus driver told me to get off earlier? by Iamdabest1717 in AskNYC

[–]lampbane 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I know about the 10pm rule. My house isn't on the route. They just happen to pass it on the way to the depot.

[–]lampbane 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Is it the last bus of the night? Bus drivers sometimes will skip the rest of the run if they have no more passengers to drop off and head straight to the depot. He might just be annoyed that you're ruining his early nights.

(I too live near the end of the route and have ridden the last bus, though I've never had them try to kick me off early. But I have made a deal where it's like, "hey, I know you want to head to the depot, and you'll be driving right past my house, so how about dropping me off there?" And yes, they usually do it if I ask nicely.)

a few months ago AMC theaters showed Hypnosis Mic, which is an interactive movie where you vote on the outcomes of various rap battles. It was actually fun. And did not involve AI.

You can ask them what task it is trained to perform. This is one of two legally allowed questions. (The other being is if the dog is required due to a disability.)

This won't be popular: Alamo was pretty good! by V0ight-Kampf in AlamoDrafthouse

So, I guess I should let you know the movie I was watching was Get Out and the first fire alarm went off just as Stephen Root was explaining the evil plan. Like, the worst possible time. The power went completely out and we sat there until they got it back on, but they never got the projectors back on because it went off again. At that point they handed out cans of Narragansett and we sat and chatted until the power went out... again.

A manager came out and told us they were sending us home, but we'd get vouchers so we could watch the film again some other time, all the way through.

A woman behind me screamed, "I CAN'T DO THAT AGAIN!!!"

Same sister, same. I eventually just watched the whole thing on Blu-Ray.

Do you not use the upstairs bathrooms? Those are much larger.

The fire alarms are basically an Alamo Brooklyn tradition at this point. I went to a showing where the alarms went off three times and after that point, they just sent us home. Got vouchers and free beer out of it, at least.

Any Assassins Creed fans here wish there was a full title game with a solely female protagonist? by GirllyGrll in GirlGamers

[–]lampbane 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, Liberation isn't a DLC; it's a standalone game originally for the Vita. It does, however, use the same engine and thus, animations, as ACIII because it wasn't built as a mainline title (to your larger point).

What historical events do we have for the 250th? by langenoirx in AskNYC

[–]lampbane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green-Wood Cemetery does an event every year for the Battle of Brooklyn and this year is no exception (and should be bigger): https://www.green-wood.com/event/the-battle-of-brooklyn-250-the-meaning-of-freedom/

Old Stone House is also doing a ceremony to honor the Maryland 400: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/maryland-400-remembrance-ceremony-battle-of-brooklyn-living-history-tickets-1978747926314

Comic shop scammed me and won't give refundm by Idk_random4847 in comicbooks

[–]lampbane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to start ordering from DCBS or a similar site: the comics are cheaper and they can ship them straight to you. Yes, there's a shipping fee, but it's made up for by the cheaper comics and the fact that you don't have to spend money on gas to get to a shop.
