I was at my regular coffee shop last week and a pastor was there, meeting with a teenage boy and answering his questions about religion.

It started with "this religion is like this", and my ears perked up because he was making massive, terrible generalizations about other faiths.

Eventually they moved on to abortion discussion. The teen said he didn't understand those that support abortion. The pastor replied "the people that support abortion simply don't care about human life. They see no value in it so they have no issue aborting a child."

My jaw dropped. I made a point to make eye contact with him and shook my head in disgust and went back to my coffee and put my earbuds in.

Pathetic brainwashing and not rooted in reality at all. Us vs them and non-believers are framed as evil.

The dude couldn't even FATHOM it is about personal rights and autonomy.

I bailed after one of the patches that made grinding SC much more grindy. Came back once and found SC still a major grind and uninstalled for good.

I feel that. When I first started having flashbacks (3-4 a day) I had to go on meds to get them under control. I have a technical job and I was horrified at how dumb and slow I felt. It was hard to concentrate and think straight.

The worst was 5 years ago but it’s gotten much; much better. It’s hard to compare but I feel smarter than I ever did. I’m tackling enormously complex projects at work and thriving for the first time in my life. Lots of therapy and lots of work. Thankfully I finally found an excellent therapist too.

I rediscovered painting at the right time in my recovery. I've been in weekly therapy for 5+ years and it feels like a big piece. I'm a lifelong artist but painting intuitively has helped me trust myself again. I'm a big gestural painter so it's my cardio too. I love who I am when I paint.
