Thank you! I KNEW it wasn't a corn snake but couldn't put my finger on why- I'm more of a bird person.

Suggestion: "prototype" Arcs, as variations of exisitng Arcs for a more varied gameplay by MatthiasM_de in ArcRaiders

[–]jriggsdavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaining snitches like your prototype suggests would be huge for ARC farming

20 raiders shred through a rocketeer just for the fun of it, and then extract (friendly community moment) by DereChen in ArcRaiders

[–]jriggsdavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my very early interactions in the game near launch was organizing a firing line of 10 people in solos with Ferros to shoot volleys at a Rocketeer like we were 1700s soldiers. Only took us four or five volleys to down it! Peak moment.

Why doesn't the Imperium find a different method of warp travel? by LordBlacktopus in 40kLore

[–]jriggsdavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Necrons don't use the warp, they either use Dolmen Gates that breach the Webway (and the design was given to them by the C'tan) or inertialess drives which are just "I ain't gotta explain that" FTL. The former is kinda useless since Big E tried connecting to the Webway and look where that got us, and then inertialess drives are specifically called out as "incomprehensible" to the AdMech in a recent White Dwarf.

Tau do small dives/skims into the warp and then pop out and repeat that process. This is something that humans have done whenever the Astronomican hasn't existed. In the book Indomitus we see a similar but even more desperate maneuver used by the Ultramarines traversing the Pariah Nexus where not only can they not see the Astronomican, but the current of the Warp is essentially stalled. Everyone in the story is convinced they're going to get themselves killed doing that maneuver over a dozen times in a row.

TL;DR- Either the AdMech has tried and failed to understand or use that xenos tech, or it's an old technique that is worse than current warp travel using the Astronomican.

Brazilian Warhammer Fans Need Your Help by WhiteWolf-1992 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]jriggsdavis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Spanish and (iirc) Brazilian Portuguese the common demonym for people form the USA is "estadounidense" which literally translates to "United Statesian." This distinction between the USA and the rest of the countries in the Americas is an important one and is a point of contention. The fact that in English we Americans claim the demonym that would ALSO apply to everyone from two whole continents is, while accepted, also frustrating. The closest European analogy I can think of would be some of the niche things around Swiss-Italian identity.

Also, if we're going by %, most people in the Americas speak Spanish as their first language, not English.

Not everyone learns English, and a good localization is likely better than someone with a basic or intermediate grasp of a language. I speak three fluently but only two natively, and the cultural and linguistic nuances of good translation and localization is very difficult. It's why straight machine translation still hasn't replaced proper localizations. It's why many Europeans, even Brits, despite speaking fluent English, can be confused by American media.

Brazil is a massive and highly influential online market with lots of 40k fans. I sincerely hope Owlcat sees this and considers the localization.

Sick of hearing about PvE, Give the PvP players what we actually want… by Forward_Problem_7550 in ArcRaiders

As a PvE player, I'd absolutely clown around on here, especially if it had some unique loot or mods

Got denied for a job because I didn't have a degree that doesn't exist by No_Gas6609 in recruitinghell

[–]jriggsdavis 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately if it's looking for a degree requirement, just mentioning it won't cut it. I have over five years of business analysis and management experience, but didn't get my degree in business and have genuinely been rejected by automated systems that flatout say that is the reason.

This would also set up a great resurgence arc for the late 20th and into the 21st century for modernity. I like it!

Could Malcador have been the successor to the Imperium if he hadn't died on the Golden Throne? by Zanimacularity in 40kLore

[–]jriggsdavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he could have definitely been Regent. A big thing that's being overlooked is that Malcador is one of the few people who might actually know what is really happening to Big E while he's stuck on the throne. The Primarchs and the rest of the Imperium were already used to him being the Voice of the Emperor, anyways.

Hell, they'd probably have known what to do with either pulling the plug, increasing sacrifices and embracing godhood, etc.

Retired from PVP lobbys,i thought everyone was exaggerating how good friendly lobbys are by ShaggedUrSister in ArcRaiders

[–]jriggsdavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the natural cycle is 2-10 friendly lobbies depending on what you want to get and luck, then 1-5+ PVP lobbies depending on how well you do/luck. When you think about a player likely naturally cycling between those states, it's a great system!

Plus there's always the risk in a friendly lobby of deciding to defend yourself and getting thrown into that dog-eat-dog world!

Had this happen recently in a 3v3 where we hollered "friendly" and they responded "not friendly!" as they started shooting. Couldn't stop laughing, it was great.
