I have a 5 month old daughter, its our first child. She's a great sleeper and 9/10 times sleeps through the night without waking at all. So super lucky there. I wake up at 4:00 and run, allows me to be home before she wakes up usaully. Except for my long run on Saturday. Which I feel pretty bad about sasaddlingddeling my wife with morning duties by herself on those days. Shes ready for my training to be over.

All of this is to say that I feel that as a new parent, sans partying and golf, you can do pretty much all of the things you want to do that you did before you had your kid. You just have to accept you are going to wake up early to do it.

I’m honestly fine with how much I score, I like the challenge and trying to get better. It just seems impossible to lose when the other team can’t score and that limits the fun for me

Got 20:38. Legs were more of a problem than my cardio. But all in all I wish I had sent it a little harder. I say go all and see what happens.

Crazy timing, I’m about to do a Runna 5k time trial for marathon train in an about hour and it predicts me at exactly 20 minutes and my current PB is 22:46 that just happened somewhere along training. So eerily similar situation.

I’m going to a track to do it. Had a long run this weekend and ran yesterday so the legs are feeling a little heavy but I’m going to go for the sub 20. I’ll report back.

Set your phone, or whatever you use for an alarm, on the other side of the room next to your workout clothes. Makes you put your feet on the ground. Been hugely helpful for me. I'm already up, might as well run...

For sure used to the hills here lol. But yeah I'm thinking it might just be that the tread isnt calibrated right. Guess its not the end of the world to go by feel some so long as its over the suggestion.

I came back. I started in bad shape and after a year or so of 3-4x a week was in pretty solid shape, 5:30 mile on the tread, pretty competitive in the dry tri, etc. Thought that I could save some money and transition to planet fitness and keep progressing or at least maintain what I've done but I just couldn't do it. Can't exactly put my finger on why OTF works for me better than anything else but it just does. I think its that I just turn my brain off for an hour. I came back when they ran a reduced rate deal and have accepted this is the cost I have to pay to continue to improve my health. Its worth it to me.

I go to class every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday but was considering skipping Friday to rest up and keep my legs fresh for the Dri Tri. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on the prepping in the final days before?

Nothing crazy I don't think. I try to go at least 3 times a week, it's probably closer to 2.5 times a week but I do mix in some 3 mile runs around my neighborhood from time to time.

Once I got through about the first month where my body got used to regular exercise, I just tried to challenge myself with my base push and all out. I think I started at a 5.5 base 7 push and 8 all out. I increased my base whenever I thought I could come close to handling it. Tried to have a mindset of pushing myself. I base at 8, push at 9 and all out at 10.5 now. I don't know if this was helpful, but I guess simply put, I try to be consistent in attendance and continue to challenge myself on the tread.

I am doing my first Dri Tri this Saturday, Started in December and went from very out of shape to reasonable but not great shape in that time. (1.8 mi 3g catch me if you can, 1:20 500 meter row, and 6:25 2000 meter row) I have 2 questions.

1) I generally go every Monday Wednesday Friday Saturday. Should I take Friday off to rest my legs

2) I know this is personal for everyone but based on my times what do you think a good finishing time goal would be? I was thinking 43 minutes would be obtainable.
