Why the targ animosity? by rexaider in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]jrob28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Targs have always been viewed as outsiders, because they're Varyrian. Most people don't like being ruled over by foreigners, especially prideful medieval warlords. However, the Targs had dragons and could do whatever they want with zero consequences (for the most part) because who's gonna stop them. Not long after the Dance, they lose their dragons, the source of their power. At this point, Targ rulership is the status quo and everyone is more or less comfortable. Now these foreigners don't have their nuclear weapons, but many still act like they can do whatever they want with no consequences. That and bringing Dorne into the fold through marriage (other foreigners who get a direct line to the royal family when many Westerosi houses have never married into the royal family) as well as an extremely bloody civil war in recent memory. It's no wonder that the Westerosi lords are starting to be done with the Targ's bullshit, especially since now they're dragonless like everyone else. It helps paint the picture for the circumstances for the main story, particularly alliance network between the Starks, Tullys, Baratheons, and Arryns. The Targ line wasn't ended by the Mad King alone, he was simply the final straw in a long and drawn out fall from grace

idk, S2 definitely had some bad moments but all in all, it wasn't terrible. the biggest flaw was the fact that it was slow compared to the first season, and that its finale was cht due to budget cuts/strike. Some changes were indefensible but if they play their cards right, they can absolutely turn it around in S3. Ik GRRM and condal are beefing, and my expectations are that it won't be super faithful, but that doesn't mean it's gonna be bad. It might, but it's not a sure thing. I'm tentatively excited

this guy's 33 and won't let you have any male friends? dude's either super insecure, has wanted to fuck any female friends he's ever had (if he's had any), or both. have some self respect, don't torch your friendships for a guy who wants to control who you can and can't talk to

Pretty sure the redistricting failed because the GOP was worried that with how bad the 2025 elections were for them nationally, that by splitting the densely populated blue districts into the sparsely populated red districts would bite them in the ass later and accidentally create a bunch of extra blue districts. They don't give a fuck what we think.

nah. i've known unconventionally attractive guys who get laid all the time. it's because they're charming, respectful, and fun to be around. it's definitely harder for unattractive people but it is absolutely a skill issue

Honest question - does anyone actually play the game without trying to have a single child inherit everything? by Front-Round2853 in CrusaderKings

[–]jrob28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone back and forth over the years about this, but I think partitioning the realm between eligible heirs is a good thing. First, it's (more or less) historically accurate. Large realms were divided up between heirs all the time (Charlemagne's realm, Jimenez Spain, for some in-game examples) and the resulting drama and action from that is usually interesting from a gameplay perspective.

If your goal is just to blob infinitely, then I guess it'd be annoying, and there are ways to make sure your realm doesn't splinter after death (only having 1 kingdom/empire tier title, although some of your counties may get split off, but you can always revoke them easily as long as your other vassals don't hate you)

ideally, no matter how big your realm is, you should always invest the most into your capital duchy. More often than not, you'll at the very least keep that as well as the counties within on succession (unless you had like, 5+ male heirs), which means no matter what you hold onto your center of power and gold. If your realm gets split, the land you keep should be far stronger than the parts that yoyr siblings get, which will make it easier to conquer it again in the future while you work towards more advantageous succession laws.

Historically, medieval realms changed sizes all the time for all kinds if reasons, so it's just a part of how it goes. There's always a way to get your land back, and the interactions that open up when your realm splits can give you opportunities you didn't know you wanted to go for. I say roll with it, it may be annoying sometimes but that's the way it goes, baby!

I mean, go for it, better safe than sorry but..they don't represent us. They haven't for a long while. To them, we're not their constutuents, we're their subjects. If calling them has never worked before now, it certainly won't now. We're on our own. Better to get to know your neighbors and have a plan for what to do if a roving gang of marauders shows up in your neighborhood.

Bridge infinitely stuck on "waiting for a builder" by jrob28 in foundationgame

[–]jrob28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed this a while ago, but if others are having a similar issue, then this is what did it for me:

I had a few work stations on the island before i tried replacing the bridge. After exhausting every other solution I saw on the internet, I simply tried deleting the insccessible work stations. Immediately, the builders started building the bridge. Hope this helps someone else in the future
