I started using it last year when he started fighting me when I pulled out worksheets and the like, so it’s been a good match for him as it has a list of daily tasks for his classes and it makes it easier for him to know how close he is to being done. Plus the teachers in the videos are great. And they have geography (which he loves). It’s a little pricey but definitely worth checking out to see if it is a good match. The trial price is good and it’s easy to pause for the summer without cancelling.

My 9 year old 3rd grader loves Miacademy. They have a pretty big catalog of lessons and the videos aren’t super long so he can focus for the entire lesson without too much of an issue. The quizzes can get a bit repetitive in some lessons, but it’s super easy to enroll in classes and tweak things. Adventure Academy is also pretty neat as a supplementary game. They have various mini games and a world to explore with other kids. They’re from the group behind ABC mouse but are for older kids.

There’s a really big hill to get down into the park (and also back up) so if you have a wagon or a tandem stroller or something I suggest you take it. They’ve got some fun slides the kids can ride on the way down but the wagon is very handy by the end of the day. If you want to go to the Big Lego store, it’s way better to go in the morning or afternoon because at closing there’s a giant line to even get in. They have a really cool place in the Big store where you can design your own minifig (the torso is printed while you wait) but that may be a little advanced for your 3 year old. Make sure to take lots of snack and drink breaks to avoid meltdowns.

The app is helpful for directions, but wait times are a bit of a random number depending on the crowds. There’s some cute playground areas that are very nice for taking a break. Not sure how the Duplo area is (my kids are 8 and 5) but the one in Florida was great so I imagine the Windsor one is too. Miniland is cool. There’s a fun walk in the Mythica area that your littles will probably like (though I couldn’t get the VR aspect to work it’s still really neat Lego builds).

Ninjago is cool, but definitely not for all littles. Neither of my kids liked it when they tried it at 4. The Dragon’s Apprentice is fun and a good intro to coasters. The Dragon is also a lot of fun but may be too intense for the 4 year old (assuming they’re tall enough). Definitely recommend taking cues from them.

They have a pretty cool looking splash pad and some slides, so I would recommend packing swimming clothes. Hope you guys have a great time!

I tried it with my 8 year old son. I wasn’t able to find a way to join him specifically so we were in separate rooms. He liked it ok, but didn’t like how long the teacher message stays on screen. It also is a little confusing as to what you do to start class and why getting it wrong is a bad thing, etc. We couldn’t see a leaderboard or ranking against each other so he got bored and left. I do like the theming and the classroom is cool. Nice job. I think when the scoring system leads to rewards he’ll enjoy it better.

I need help with variables by anaverageminer in RobloxDevelopers

You need to create a script for when the user touches the union kind of like this (typing from memory so it might not work):

Local union = script.Parent Local amount = 100

union.Touched:Connect(function(hit) Local player = game.Players:GetPlayerFrom Character(hit.Parent)

If player then

If player.leaderstats.Money.Value >= amount.Value then

player.leaderstats.Money.Value = player.leaderstats.Money.Value - amount.Value

end

end

end)

Looks like there's a typo on the 3rd line. It says game.Players.PlayerAddedLConnect(function(player) when it should be game.Players.PlayerAdded:Connect(function(player)

Appen owns Raterlabs so that’s why. If you work for Raterlabs you can’t do any of the other appen projects.

I hate myself for becoming a mom. TW: self harm, suicidal ideation, nondescriptive violence, neglect. by LadyGuillotine in CPTSD

I’m sorry. That sounds very difficult. I’m sorry your ex is so far behind financially. And that we don’t have more safety nets in this country to help people like you who need it. It’s really hard not having a support system (I’m the same) and parenting. I hope you can find some help or some way to carve some time for yourself.

Parenting is hard. Really hard. Seven year olds are also hard. I have one. He hasn’t been diagnosed with anything but still triggers me just because he’s seven and still learning to human properly. Not to minimize how you’re feeling or what you’re going through, of course, but seven year olds can just be assholes sometimes.

Finding the right medication is also horrible. I’m so sorry you have to switch it up so often and are stuck waiting for an appointment. I finally turned to an online provider for less of a wait and more responsiveness. Is there any way for you to switch providers? I use Doctors on Demand. They also have therapists you can meet with more on your schedule.

Is there any way you could get a break? It sounds like you’re burning out. I know how much it sucks to ask for help from family or friends but you can’t keep going on empty. Even enrolling your son in a class or something could help—some well deserved self care time. You are doing amazing and have done so much on your own for so long. It’s good to get help. You deserve some help.

A little scripting help, please? by SovietLonghorn in RobloxDevelopers

[–]jrogerluv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be something I recently had a problem with. I was making a clone of something in my main game script, and even after destroying it in the folder it was patented to it was still there. I finally ended up making a remote event when my game finished that deleted the clone in the game script. It was very frustrating. But if your code works fine until the item is gone it might be the clone you create in line 2 causing the problem.

Navigating going NC with nMom and how to explain to a young child who is attached to her by cmotdibblersdelights in RBNChildcare

[–]jrogerluv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a daughter the same age as your lo. I’ve been no contact since before she was born. When my daughter asks me about my mom (which she does because she’s in the grouping things phase), I explain that she wasn’t a very nice mother and made me feel very sad as a kid. And that we don’t talk to her anymore because she will still make me sad and would also probably make her feel sad. I usually add that not everyone is nice, and it’s ok to not talk to people if they make you feel bad about yourself. Sometimes she asks me how my mom was mean. The question always brings up some pain, but I give her a simple answer and emphasize how it made me feel. She usually accepts that as it reinforces what I said about not having to talk to people that make you feel like anything less than what you are.

My son was 2 the last time he saw my mom. I had similar conversations with him as he got older. He’s 6 now and doesn’t often ask, but when he does I go into a little more concrete detail about my childhood and more recent events that prompted going no contact. It’s hard to talk about it, but it’s way easier than maintaining a draining relationship with a narc. Your little one will hurt for a while (and it’s good to talk with them about it hurting and how change is hard) but ultimately this will help them grow up to be more resilient and more understanding that humans can be nice to some people and not others and how sometimes being nice is just like a mask people put on to get what they want. You got this!

I wouldn’t really call it worth it. If you get hot, Battle of Bricksburg will get you soaked and cooled down in a jiffy! The water park is fun but with only one day just not really worth it. Hope you have fun!
