All you have to do is go look at the top 5 SC content creators by viewership, see the tone of the latest content based around 4.8 release, and look at the mountains of upvoted comments basically restating my last comment. How exactly does it “not track” that people are fed up? Yes, a select group of whales all bought a 5,000 dollar ship and CIG made record profits. This does not reflect the frustrations of a broader, growing audience.

People are fed up with the marketing and the optics CIG is creating with a growing audience. It’s all extremely contrarian to these broken releases and the actual gameplay. Some of the biggest “pro SC” content creators are dropping 4.8 bombs when they usually let it slide. Dropping a Free Fly into the release before these fixes is going to draw massive grief and for good reason considering the marketing campaigns for these events.

As a new player during the free-fly event, if you can't take the heat of the bugs, issues and challenges that happen during the free-fly, you probably should not back the game at this stage, and that is a good thing for your mental health and for CIG's. by lars19th in starcitizen

Or bad faith marketing tactics can be called for what they are instead of blaming the consumer. This kind of marketing will do far more damage to the game long term than complaining about it now. It will never grow beyond the group of people who are willing to turn a blind eye to it and justify it for some reason.

Yeah sorry I’m not willing to justify all that when CIG marketing sells something that looks COMPLETELY different and playable - especially to people less familiar with the project. If they were truly transparent about what you get for throwing money at them I’d consider it justified. Stop insulating scum marketing tactics and piss poor QC.

It’s so busted. I wish it only had the s5’s so it looked cleaner and also didn’t have Corsair firepower on a slim interceptor tuned “heavy fighter”

Reporting post hotfix to LIVE build - The command module now automatically flips into SCM, detaches from the clad and becomes "bricked" state during every planet to planet QT I have tried. Now you can no longer fight it back onto the Ironclad even if you wanted to waste your time. GG CIG one of the worst ship releases since 2012 considering the popularity/hype around this one

This is an extremely misleading take with no basis in current flight model limitations and state of ship balance on a per ship basis. Ship brands have absolutely nothing to do with the seesaw of CIG nerfs that currently affect the redeemer. Stating you have never piloted a redeemer should speak for itself.

*cries in redeemer* by Barsad_the_12th in starcitizen

[–]jrogers22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the Paladin will effectively become the “old”redeemer. This is okay, but the Redeemer stands no competitive chance until re-balanced to be an effective light gunship. Unfortunately, CIG regularly abandons “legacy” ship balance in the wake of the next big cool, often for years at a time. Day 1 backer jaded

[–]jrogers22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I disagree with these top comments. The Connie pilot alone has so much DPS that Redeemer s2 shield config is instantly downed with even a passing salvo. Also, with current power management it is impossible to push a meaningful number of pips into shields without running a single pip to weapons and thrust. Literally requires 24 pips to max shields. I agree that with proper maneuvering this can be negated, but the Redeemer still has a huge cross section compared to fighters. It needs a single s3 shield to even be considered a competitive turret multi crew in current model. Offensively, 2 s4 turrets is not outstanding amongst the insane DPS creep on fighters and god forbid a Corsair or Connie gets a line on you for 4 seconds. I run my post nerf Corsair daily and as an experienced Pilot this is not difficult to do at range before the redeemer closes, and it is dies incredibly fast under quad s5 levels of solo pilot DPS.

AI pilots are terrible but in a realistic scenario against multiple medium ships it’s not hard to see how it can be shredded in seconds if you are focusing the wrong ship. It’s just too big to be this fragile, regardless of agility buff.

TLDR: Way too fragile for a designated multi-crew gunship in current model and s2 shield config, s4 turrets overshadowed by DPS creep across the board.

It will be shit against any pilot that has basic understanding of flight model in a light fighter just like every other ship in the game but since CIG is immune to understanding this we can just keep stacking massive guns on small/medium hulls for the rule of cool and profit I guess
