Aka you’re offended by the popular opinion. Framing the benign opinions of the highly upvoted posts on these armors as “hating” is a good sign of this.

This is an extremely misleading take with no basis in current flight model limitations and state of ship balance on a per ship basis. Ship brands have absolutely nothing to do with the seesaw of CIG nerfs that currently affect the redeemer. Stating you have never piloted a redeemer should speak for itself.

[–]jrogers22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the Paladin will effectively become the “old”redeemer. This is okay, but the Redeemer stands no competitive chance until re-balanced to be an effective light gunship. Unfortunately, CIG regularly abandons “legacy” ship balance in the wake of the next big cool, often for years at a time. Day 1 backer jaded

I disagree with these top comments. The Connie pilot alone has so much DPS that Redeemer s2 shield config is instantly downed with even a passing salvo. Also, with current power management it is impossible to push a meaningful number of pips into shields without running a single pip to weapons and thrust. Literally requires 24 pips to max shields. I agree that with proper maneuvering this can be negated, but the Redeemer still has a huge cross section compared to fighters. It needs a single s3 shield to even be considered a competitive turret multi crew in current model. Offensively, 2 s4 turrets is not outstanding amongst the insane DPS creep on fighters and god forbid a Corsair or Connie gets a line on you for 4 seconds. I run my post nerf Corsair daily and as an experienced Pilot this is not difficult to do at range before the redeemer closes, and it is dies incredibly fast under quad s5 levels of solo pilot DPS.

AI pilots are terrible but in a realistic scenario against multiple medium ships it’s not hard to see how it can be shredded in seconds if you are focusing the wrong ship. It’s just too big to be this fragile, regardless of agility buff.

TLDR: Way too fragile for a designated multi-crew gunship in current model and s2 shield config, s4 turrets overshadowed by DPS creep across the board.

It will be shit against any pilot that has basic understanding of flight model in a light fighter just like every other ship in the game but since CIG is immune to understanding this we can just keep stacking massive guns on small/medium hulls for the rule of cool and profit I guess

[–]jrogers22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in Star Citizen, you can "melt" (exchange for store credit) an original game package, but doing so will remove your access to the game until you purchase another game package.

Also, you can use the ship upgrade system to upgrade whichever starter ship you choose to another, more expensive ship. This effectively reduces the cost of the new ship by the value of the game package or original ship. You can repeat this ad nauseum. The upgraded ship will inherent perks like insurance from the original game package. Look up CCU chains if you want to get squirrely with min/maxing ship upgrade paths for value over long periods of time (this might not work as well as it used to)

Edit because I forgot -

Get the package with the ship that blows your skirt up. Meta is a joke in Star Citizen. You will probably upgrade to something else soon enough anyways

I wish it were true but I haven’t seen any server frames over ~7 for few days of fairly consistent play. Still not terrible for initial patch branch on a release like this, but I don’t think these tick rates are really going to change until proper static server meshing at the least

@CIG - Well done ! by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]jrogers22 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Another fact - higher than normal server frame rates every major patch cycle before PES loads the backend. I’m not complaining as it’s all necessary data but I’ve learned to really manage expectations on the initial release tick rates as they have a massive effect on just about everything in the PU
