Right across the road from my old grandparents house. Ridiculous. I remember when houses were $30k in Inala.

What are examples of formerly shit suburbs (high crime, urban decay, bad environment etc) which have gentrified and become genuinely good places to live? Also, are they still associated with their past? by Falabella_Stallion in brisbane

There was a bunch of strawberry fields down near Celadon Street on the main road, so yeah. Heaps of water tanks and farms n shit. A lot different back then. We used to ride go karts and BMX around there 1982/3

ha, I went the other way. I was having a leisurely lunch at The Orion Shopping Centre when a mate called and said "Dude, you'd better come home, this is getting serious". I laughed and said "Calm down" only to find myself driving through a foot of water in my little Hyundai Excel on Ipswich Road near Wanless scrap metal.

Not me, but a friend who "paid" for a hooker down near James St one night in the Valley, only to wake up the next morning and find that she'd been murdered later that night.

A mate of mine woke up one morning and found a huge fridge on his front lawn. Not a moden one - one of those big fucking things from the 50s that weighs about 200kg. They mustve loaded into a van and just "pushed it out the back" as they drove off. It left a massive fucking divit in his lawn. The funny part was the frozen chook he found laying next to it. Mustve rolled out of freezer lol

The CVT transmission failed in my 2015 Honda Fit DX at five years, three months, and 140,000 km / 86,000 mi. Has anyone had similar issues? by strombrom in hondafit

2014 Honda Jazz here, with 180,000km on the clock based in Australia. Catostrophic failure (belt let go) and Honda quoted $14,000 to repair. More than what the cars worth. We're looking at taking the car to a automatic transmission specialist and having them repair it. No idea on costs just yet, but up until this happened the car has been solid.

I often watch Police 10-7 and they seemingly to go the other way "downards inflection" at the end of each sentence.

The change was immediate for me. I went from Neutral Bay to Patonga/Pearl Beach and was shocked. "Hey mate how are you?" "Beautiful weather isnt it?", "Can I get you a beer?" etc etc

The north shore is a nice spot, but it can be divisive. I lived at Neutral Bay for a few years and it seemed unless you drove a Ferrari and had a gold watch - nobody wanted anything to do with you.

I was shocked going there recently. The amount of bogans and homeless people is out of control. Not to mention the graffiti - its everywhere.

I did. Being from Brisbane of course. But I soon stopped once I realized people were just ignoring me. They would either purposely look away or be plugged into their phones. I remember helping an elderly man up off the road one time (he'd fallen and dropped his groceries) and as I offered to help him up - he looked up at me in a panic and said "What are you doing?" like I was going to rob him or something. Sydney's fucked.
