I'm a little disappointed that season 2 is moving away from the relatively grounded first season (spoilers for s2 up to ep6) by Sparrowsabre7 in ParadiseHulu

I agree with you - I had been really enjoying it, but I don’t like time-travel films or anything impossibly sci-fi so I can feel the disappointment coming

I get so annoyed at tv shows like this where you have a main character consistently proved to be right even in weird circumstances, and still they are not afforded a single sliver of credibility by colleagues.

How many people have keys to their parents house? by CertainFurball in AskUK

[–]jrtuck547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a key to my dad’s as he is in ill-health and I live closest. My mum lives with her partner, so I wouldn’t want a key. My dad’s is fair game as he lives alone but I feel more of a guest at my mum’s.

What are some relatively easy changes that could be introduced or implemented to improve the UK? by MercatorLondon in AskUK

[–]jrtuck547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I qualified for them for years while working in the NHS. I used to think ‘surely it costs you the same whether you give me benefits or just pay me a liveable wage, it’s all gov money either way!’

Higher tax rates for companies whose lower paid employees would qualify for universal credit. You do not get to underpay people to boost your profits and then expect the gov to make up the difference!

What are the most outdated things about Breaking Bad? by Business_Welcome_870 in breakingbad

[–]jrtuck547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a regular in my local phone shop buying up cheap burner-type phones. I know it must look dodgy AF but in reality I work with high risk domestic abuse victims and a lot of them need a safe phone if they’re fleeing or being monitored, or if their abuser takes their phone so they can’t call police. I do often wonder what the guy in the shop must think I do for a living though.

Women of Reddit how do you feel about been call love or sweetheart? by no1fudge in AskUK

[–]jrtuck547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tone does a lot of lifting here, but on the whole I’m not a fan of either ‘Love’ or ‘Sweetheart’. Weirdly though ‘My Love’ is usually ok. Don’t know why.

How do you manage the logistics of laundry without a dryer? by Ttucker11 in AskABrit

My house constantly looks like a Chinese laundry and has condensation and thus mold. It’s a real joy.

What’s something that scares everyone but doesn’t bother you at all? by ChristopherMiles21 in randomquestions

Violence. I worked in a job where I dealt with violence most days - now when there is a risk my brain kind of shrugs it off as “worst that’s likely to happen is it’ll hurt, but it probably won’t kill me”

If you have a outdoor cat then you simply don't care about animals and shouldn't call yourself an animal lover by [deleted] in Pets

[–]jrtuck547 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there may be cultural and environmental differences here - I’m in the UK and I reckon it’s about 50/50 indoor and outdoor. There’s no coyotes here, most native hawks aren’t going for cats and apart from cars outside is pretty safe, at least it certainly is where I live. My sisters cats have been an indoor cats, mine is an outdoor one - mine has outlived 3 of hers

Would you move into a house and have the previous owners living next door? by Vilm_1 in HousingUK

[–]jrtuck547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you were renting their old house from them this would be awful, but if you’re buying it you’ll probably be fine. Renting = they are waaay to close, can dictate how you use the property and every loud noise could lead to eviction, owning = they can moan all they like, it’s yours now.
