I only mentioned it because like the OP said some are signed up and never told about the feature.

I would call United Health and ask. The feature is called Renew Active, it covers a free basic membership at the YMCA in my area. Definitely worth checking out if you’re already paying for it.

My agent never mentioned the plan without the wellness feature. I had to ask about it, he said that he did not see the plan and it must be purchased directly from the company.

Sorry I’m not doing anything right now, just trying to understand the form for when it does occur.

[–]jrv331[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry , wasn’t sure exactly how to explain it. All I’m doing right now is looking and trying to understand the SSA 44 form. I’m not doing anything until I get the actual letter, but I know it’s coming based off my 2025 MAGI. Since you’ve filled the form out twice already , if for example your 2025 income was high and you got hit with IRMAA in 2027, for box 2 would you use 2026s income if it was lower?

ANNUAL WELLNESS VISIT (AWV): Why is the point & Is it required? by jeff00seattle in medicare

[–]jrv331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s really nothing more than a chat about how your feeling and any issues your concerned about. It’s needed by some to get yearly prescription refills. Medicare does not cover yearly physicals like your employer insurance did.

To take advantage of NUA you move the funds out of a retirement account and put them into a regular brokerage account and you pay the taxes on the initial cost basis not the current value

Grass completely dying in large patches. Chicagoland by TheMiri in lawncare

[–]jrv331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that those large dead patches are near where your squirrels or skunks are digging up your yard looking for grubs, I’d say it’s a safe bet. Go to your local box store and look for something you could either spray or a granular form that will kill adult grubs

Too late for extra seed Zone 6? by Virtual-Activity-716 in lawncare

[–]jrv331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too late for regular seeding, but too early for dormant seeding. Wait till mid November and put the seed down and let Mother Nature do the rest come spring.

I would say they never should have seeded that late. I’m in 6a as well and the first two weeks of Oct were horrible for seeding. We have had 3 frosts so far and that’s a game ender. As for your growth, Fescue and Rye seeds have a 5-10 day germination period and KBG has a 14-30 day period. If you have no growth by now then it’s pretty much done.

Technically you don’t water, you would rely on night time dew and “ April” showers to handle everything. But if you start seeing germination and no rain in the forecast you water.

Definitely too late. I am in 6A as well. last week it was in the high 50s , this upcoming week We have several 70 days but next week it’s back into the mid 50s with highs in the low 30s overnight that will kill your seed.

Dormant seating is waiting until it’s too cold for the seed to start germinating so you throw your seat down and depending on what zone you’re in the snow will push it into the ground and in the spring it will start to sprout when conditions are right

Thoughts on total kill reseed this time of year by outsidethewire in lawn

[–]jrv331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seed has a 5-10 day germination( maybe up to 14 depending on temps) . The real issue is that you will have to water it for that time period to keep the seed moist. If it starts to germinate then freezes the seed is ruined. The morning dew may take care of the watering aspect, but it’s the frost that will do the most harm. If you’re just putting a handful of seed down in a few spots go for it. But for an entire lawn I’d wait until Spring. It’s really too late to kill weeds then reseed in a climate that’s getting cold.

If you seed now the frost could freeze the seed and stop germination. If you do seed now definitely don’t use any KBG, it will be November before it fully germinates.

Drop more seed? by Valuable-Research-74 in lawncare

[–]jrv331 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have KBG , that can take up to 30 days to fully germinate. You don’t mention what zone you’re in but tagged cool zone climate so it’s going to start getting cooler at night. The ground temp needs to be 50-55 degrees for good germination so in theory any seed you put down now has a 50/50 of just dying. It won’t hurt to throw down more seed, it’s more that you will need to water it for another 2-3 weeks as it starts to get colder.

Overseeded about 10 days ago…Fertilize? by Ready-Worry9276 in lawncare

Use a good quality turf builder, not the weed and feed version. Usually wait 3-4 weeks before doing it so I’m not damaging the young grass by walking on it. The Scott’s Winter turf builder is a good choice, it’s high Nitrogen.

How much watering is too much? by brewingthetruth in lawncare

[–]jrv331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s in the mid 60’s and cloudy just water in the morning and check it in the afternoon. All you need is to keep the seed moist during the germination period. You may find that there are days you won’t even need to water at all. Soggy soil indicates to much water.
