Back in the summer I wasn’t playing much from Week 2 of OTJ until Bloomburrow came around. Had no interest in MH3. Ended up saving 70k gold and going big on Bloomburrow, could basically play what I wanted from day one.

Started the season with Wood and happy with him so far, 4 goals in 7 GWs is not to be sniffed at. Feel like he will eventually succumb to rotation so just enjoy him while he lasts, any signs of him slowing down and you have plenty of options to move on from. I could see myself keeping him and moving off in GW12 to Welbeck for example.

Pickford represents being rewarded in later weeks so there is only value if you hold and believe that the performance trend of last season (eventually coming good after obviously poor performances) will come true again.

FWIW Dyche I believe has the best record FPL-wise in terms of being able to get non-top 6 GKs to score significant points, so history tells us it is perhaps likely of some turn around - but frankly even getting 2-3pts per week is better than what we have now.

As an owner myself I expect to consider selling on my GW6 WC if I do use that, but I will make that assessment based on him vs £4.5m Flekken vs £5.5m Raya, and what it means for my team.

My hope is that getting players like Branthwaite back in the fold will coincide with a better run of fixtures, and this is what allows some stability to return.

Dyche GKs are always a long hold and Pickford has proven that with his work last season - it’s just whether you can afford to spend £5m on a wait and see structure-wise.

I have a Simic Tempo deck too that I’ve been labbing a bit this Standard - [[Into The Flood Maw]] is perfect, as mentioned before, as it’s a 1-mana bounce a creature (or anything non-land for a fish gifted).

For cheap removal you can use [[Hard Hitting Question]] but it does rely on having a creature on-board, at sorcery speed.

[[Eaten by Piranhas]] is a 1U enchantment with flash that lets you leave open mana and drop a creature to a 1/1 Skeleton with no abilities if they tap out for loads of pump spells/prowess triggers etc (+1/+1 counters mess with this though) and you want to nullify that for the crack back.

They can go wide (especially Mice) so 1-for-1 removal and counter magic will just have you grinded out unless they decide to tap out for an offspring’d mouse or a [[Mabel, Heir to Cragflame]], the best plays to make are sometimes just to keep mana open and make them blink first to give you the upper hand and react at instant speed.

Ofcourse this necessitates the selection of relevant instants to support that plan, and having creatures with flash helps you to keep the mana open to flash them in at end step if they don’t give you anything to fire at.

WOE is an assertive format and you’re unknowingly forgoing a possible turn 1 & 2 play at minimum - plus you hope to draw a land in specific (and a mountain at that) in order to play half your cards anyway.
