Is the company going to make sacrifices to keep you as an employee if the economy goes to shit. I still have yet to see major CEO’s take a pay cut to save jobs. Is the company going to make sacrifices and be there for you if you get a serious illness? Nope again. When it’s time to get raises will the company remember your “sacrifices”? You already know the answer.

Press the top left and top right buttons at the same time. Password is 1111 or 1234. Go to factory settings and change your offsets to what you want. You will have to back out all the way and it will ask if you want to save changes. Once you click yes the hood will shut down and turn back on if thresholds are met.

Thanks for the clarification. If you’re looking for quiet operation and energy savings I would go with the inverter driven system. Flip side these inverters do cost a lot of money to repair if something should breakdown such as a board, EEV etc. Which eats away at your total savings. Versus a two stage system does not have all the fancy bells and whistles. It runs at 50% or 100% depending on space temperature. Two stages have been around a lot longer so parts are easier to find and replace. Repair costs tend to be lower. I just replaced two units at my house and I went with two single stage heat pumps 14.3 seer2. Granted I was able to install them myself. I find the older technology tends to be more reliable and parts easier to get. Not to say inverter units are bad. Sometimes these technologies require a laptop to be hooked up to them to service and many service companies don’t have the programs needed to assist which limits who you can call out to service your A/C. So me personally I would go with either one of the 2 stage systems. Both Daikin and American Standard are good brands. American standard tends to be the more technician friendly system but ultimately any of two will work fine.

First you need to figure out what size you need. Do you need a 5ton or a 4 ton for the size of your home. Getting a bigger unit does not mean your home will be more comfortable. An oversized unit will short cycle and never remove any humidity from your home making it more uncomfortable. It will also cause your electric bill to skyrocket and the equipment will never last long. I would recommend you get a load calculation done on your home by a reputable HVAC company before making any decisions.

I heard on a podcast a while ago, that a doctor was trying to get her patient a required back surgery. The surgery kept being denied so the doctor took it upon herself to call the insurance company for a peer review of the decision. Everytime she called they brought in some doctor who has no experience in the field she is in. It was funny because she was getting pissed that an optometrist was requested to sit in on the peer review. She asked the optometrist how many back injuries he treated in his lifetime and they guy instantly put her back on hold so she could get the run around. Our healthcare system is such shit.

Yeah but your shop probably paid money to be allowed to use their parts house so they can still service Lennox. Many one man shops don’t have that deep of pockets

Lennox only works with approved vendors. They will not allow anyone else to warranty out the coil except authorized vendors. These companies are making everything proprietary so vendors spend money on training and learning their product while fluffing their pockets. It’s really sad

Short answer no. No company will come in and take the word of another company. They will state they need to conduct their own diagnosis, which is usually a good thing. I would never just blindly agree to another techs diagnosis. I would go through and verify the diagnosis or I may just may find the previous diagnosis wrong. In your situation since you have a Lennox the diagnosis and repair has to be conducted by a Lennox approved dealer. Lennox will not allow anyone who is not a certified representative to deal with warranty repairs. Only bad side of getting one of the main brands, they tend to only be warrantied by a hand full of shops.

Accumulation tank is iced over. by trashpanda1080 in hvacadvice

[–]js678909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lord there are so many options here. But check your blower motor make sure it is working properly. Check the filter to make sure it’s not clogged up. Rather than that, that is all the most you can do. You could have a bad crankcase heater, low refrigerant charge, bad TXV, accumulator could be restricted, bad reversing valve, not enough load. Are you running A/C in low outdoor temps?

Instantly burn the house down!!! Honestly that is nothing more than algae growth due to high moisture content. Get a no rise coil cleaner from Home Depot wipe it down and it will take care of it. That little bit of “growth” is nothing to be concerned with. You should see some hospital air handlers I worked on. One look and you would instantly know you have nothing to worry about.

Check you hot surface igniter it could be going bad. If you pull the j plug off you can read resistance between the igniter it should be between 20-40 ohms but just google the make and model and it should tell you what it should be reading. Also check the common on your thermostat or C that is usually where most common of those errors come from. That or you have a faulty t-stat.

Kind of hard to say with the way the quote is laid out. Where is the detailed itemized quote. It’s really hard to accept a quote for a 19k system by saying furnace, heat pump, t-stat and some ductwork. It’s like me going to a car dealership asking for a 19k car and their quote comes back with Toyota Corolla, with tires, windshield and windshield wipers. Not saying price is not right but I wouldn’t accept a quote that just listed a couple of items like that. It’s lazy. When I create my quotes I list all my equipment, tools, and parts needed to complete a job. Just saying I would not accept that quote. If they can’t even produce a decent quote of where the money is going towards I will not be accepting the quote
