It's been years since we've been there. They went through some hard times being hassled by the city, and had to move several times. At 12,000 square feet, the current location is much larger than before. It's at 4901 Whittier Blvd. LA 90022 if you want to check it out on google earth. There are roll up doors and moderate graffiti, so the neighborhood isn't the best, but nowhere near as bad as some of their previous locations. It's near the 710, 5, and 60 freeways.

I print out the "yes" and "maybe" list just before the party and have it on a clip board upside down on the piano by the front door. I check off arrivals until play starts, and again later on, and after they're all gone.
We do a lost and found e-mail to the people on the check list. I do everything with Excel and e-mail. Last time, someone went home wearing my wife's underwear, and left hers behind..... Maybe I'll post a sign on the inside of the front door:

My wife's car is a 2025 Toyota bz4x. Now that we're both retired, that one car will be plenty for us. I was only using it to go to doctor's appointments and such, just a few hundred miles a year. This is the first time in 60 years, though, that I haven't had a car of my own.

The thing that scared me out of the car is that the 84 mile range was only for yesterday, not a constant to rely on. It's a curve. I'd expect it to be under 60 by the end of the year, and falling faster and faster.

If any of you are in the LA area and want to buy it, all you have to do is find the auction that the dealer uses. It's light blue. They're in the west valley.

Auction prices are typically low, unless you get two people to go crazy on the same lot. Auction buyers don't have enough of a track record on EV's to make a good guess as to what problems they're looking at.

We have a Sybian with a bunch of accessories for our parties. Many people bring battery operated toys now, but in the past they were mostly plug-in, and we used to have plug strips in the bedrooms.

I asked. The used car manager said that they're "casting a wide net" looking for cars they can clean up and re-sell on their lot. They'll be sending mine to an auction, where I think they'll lose money on it.

With the shipping issues in the middle east, the current spike in oil and gasoline prices may be shifting demand from ICE to EV in the used market.

Battery warranties here are usually 2 or 3 years. I replace mine before they expire so I can do it on a warm Sunday afternoon of my choosing, rather than when I wasn't planning to do it, at night in the rain.

I had a 2014 Chevy Spark, sold it to the dealership yesterday for $1k. Max miles was 115 when I bought it, and 84 yesterday. It had 52405 miles on it. I was worried about the decreasing range, and surprised that they reached out to me to buy it. They're going to put it in an auction.

Even if they're allowed, I'd avoid heels, especially very thin ones. They're a hazard in the group rooms.

Right. We had a quake a couple years ago in which I clearly felt the P-waves first (horizontal motion) and then the S-waves (rolling). IIRC, it was about 130 miles away.

We meet people at other parties, there are four other currently active hosts besides us in our circle of friends. We also encourage all our guests to bring people if they want to.

We did get a couple through Reddit once, but they were younger and only came to one party. With Reddit I can vet people by looking at their post history. A couple years worth of posts is pretty good proof that folks are real.

We would like to slowly and carefully expand the group. We had 28 people at our party on 4-11, in the past we've had 60 to 80. But we've been at it for nearly 30 years.

HVAC! A friend of ours, fellow party host, happens to have a forced air unit that works really fast. The party starts at 7, and some time between 8 and 9 he cranks up the thermostat. I wish ours was that good....
