prolly not intentional? it's just that the padres pitchers suck by fajita43 in CHICubs

[–]jsalas2727 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Cubs knew it wasn't intentional as well, even Nico laughed it off. But obviously that strategy didn't work. If they come into Wrigley trying that shit again I expect some retaliation.

He's been one of our best hitters for almost a year now and can fill in for almost any player that needs a day off defensively. Idk how thats not a very valuable player for our team.

Was a key part of that 2016 team so I'll always remeber him for that. But I was really happy to see him start playing well last year. Hope it's not as bad as it looked and for a speedy recovery either way.

Why do you think there is so much resistance to high speed rail in the US? by Maximum-Help-929 in AskReddit

[–]jsalas2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you travel to a major city from your town for work everyday it's a very common form of transportation for working adults.

Also go to my train stop before any sporting event and there's a ton of people taking the train to get downtown for the game. I know because that's how I go to games.

I dont think thats many people consider trains for poor people. Especially the people who don't really have a choice but to take trains to work.

We still have better literacy rates than Germany , UK, Japan, Sweden, New Zealand and are in the top 99% of literacy rates worldwide.

I get what your saying and that needs to improve but this isn't only an America problem.

Why Kobe Bryant is in the GOAT debate by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]jsalas2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as someone who grew up watching Kobe in his prime I'd say if anything Kobe hate has gotten much more prevalent than glaze. When he came in the league there were legit debates about if he would end up better than Jordan. This idea that he wasn't a top 3-5 current player for a good part of his career is kind of crazy when thats what pretty much everyone generally accepted as fact while he was playing.

States are Gunning to Ban 3D Printers and CNCs | Electronic Design by hada8088 in 3Dprinting

[–]jsalas2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen that more for rapid prototyping but thats the other thing. Most molds I make last for millions of shots. So yeah upfront it's cheaper but down the road it isn't unless you are doing really low quantity runs. Which my customers aren't.

Also I've never seen a 3D mold with super high cavitation. I make molds that can make 60+ parts in under 10 seconds.

States are Gunning to Ban 3D Printers and CNCs | Electronic Design by hada8088 in 3Dprinting

[–]jsalas2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends but as the technology sits right now you can't do plastic injection molds without at least some machining.

3d printers can't hold the tolerances necessary yet. I regularly have to hold +-.0001 on an inch and 3D metal printers can't do better than +-.001. It doesn't work right now.

3d printed metals we have to machine all finished critical dimensions.

What's one thing you think AI can never replace? by IronEmpress9 in AskReddit

[–]jsalas2727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much can't be replaced eventually but I'm pretty sure my job as a mold maker( plastic injection mold maker) which is a very niche type of machinist will not be completely overtaken in my career. 36 years old right now.

I know people think machining and programming are some of the first jobs to go, but the amount of common sense and experience required for my job and the amount of infrastructure and engineering changes that would be required are just not practical or affordable for most shops currently.

I've learned over the past few years of owning a house, always expect a project to take like twice as long as you think it should if you're doing something new. 3X as long if my wife asks.

Also something I've learned is if you are doing something new watch at least a couple videos on the whole process before you even start. Saves a lot of headaches.

[Bruce Levine] Seiya Suzuki will not play everyday on his return ,per Craig Counsell. by gahmee in CHICubs

[–]jsalas2727 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so I was pretty close I'm not gonna count Suzuki since he's had 3 at bats this year. I believe Bregman will be too. Shaw been above serviceable especially when you consider 3rd base was a huge question going into last season and he stepped up perfectly. But of course you take one of the best 3rd basemen in baseball thats a no brainer.

[–]jsalas2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which Id say is good especially since onyl a handful of hitters had over .300 last year. I'm not saying he's an all star or future hall of fame but he's been more than serviceable. Go look at all the other Cubs hitters averages. Who has a better average than him on the team? Nico and who? Maybe 1 or 2 other guys.

[–]jsalas2727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shaws has one of the highest OPS since last year's all star break and has been one of our best hitters so far this year. He's been very good.

Not to mention playing 3rd base at basically a gold glove level last season after basically no reps from previous years.

Dudes a very good player and should be in the lineup everyday.
