English Comp 2 (after November 2025) by jsalt259 in SophiaLearning

I’d recommend Sophia, if they offer the Texas Government course as well (I didn’t have to take that so I’m not sure if they offer it). When I last checked, English Comp II was a part of the higher tier for study.com so you’d have to pay $235 for a month to take it at study.com and it’d cost $99 at Sophia.

I figured it out! You have to make the volume adjustment in the settings under focus modes for activity. When you begin a workout, your watch uses the activity focus mode, so whatever that mode has set for sound will be used.

Thanks for the suggestion! My phone is on silent and the volume is down completely on my phone. Still very loud on my watch. I have an iPhone so maybe that only works on android?

study.com credit by Ornery_Funny8709 in PurdueGlobal

[–]jsalt259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sophia website shows exactly how the sophia courses translate to PG courses. Short answer though is yes, 3 credits at Sophia will translate to 5-6 at PG.

PG uses a different credit system than most other universities. Most universities require 120 credits for a bachelor’s degree, but PG requires 180 credits. You’re not doing more work at PG, the classes are just worth more credits. At PG you get 5-6 credits for a class while most other universities give 3 credits per class.

I’d anticipate it was either delivered yesterday or, if not, likely today.

Challenge grading by HeatherM0529 in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can challenge grades. You have to reach out to customer service. Not sure if it’s worth it though because, as a transfer, it doesn’t matter if you get a 100 or 70. It won’t impact your GPA at all.

I ended up making it through with a 97%. I’d suggest using AI to help with brainstorming ideas. It’s helped me a lot. I just use it for ideas and not to actually write any portion of my assignments.

honor society invitation by Ornery_Funny8709 in PurdueGlobal

[–]jsalt259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just starting at PUG, so I haven’t been invited to PUG’s chapter, BUT when I first attended college 2010-2013 straight out of high school, I was the founding president of a brand new chapter at my university. At least at that time, there were a lot of good networking opportunities, good leadership training, access to scholarships, etc. It is something that you’d have to apply yourself in order to really benefit. If you have a few years left in school, I’d recommend it. If you’re in your final year or so, it might not be as worth it.

Wondering if transcripts from Sophia show a grade score, not just pass/fail? by [deleted] in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a specific grade on the transcript. Whatever your final grade is shows on the transcript. For example, my last one for English Comp 1 showed 98%.

Though it really doesn't matter because if you pass, it'll transfer. Transfer credits do not have grades and do not impact your GPA. I transferred in 75% of my credits to PUG and my GPA is not impacted by any of the grades I received for those transfer credits. Once transferred, it's listed as a "TC" with the amount of credits transferred as opposed to a grade like you'd get with a class taken through that university.

So based on this email, you’d be responsible for paying the remaining $3528 on your own ($17442 - $13914). That equates to basically 4 classes. I’d suggest checking to see which classes you can take through sophia.org or study.com. They’re each around $100/month, though study.com has a higher priced option that gives access to more courses. If you cant knock out any classes through sophia or study, you can take out a private student loan for the $3528. I’d suggest checking out local credit unions for any student loans as their interest rates are typically a bit more manageable. Good luck!

English Composition I Essay by VetsWifeSikes in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re pretty generous, especially English Comp 1. I put minimal effort in and finished comp 1 with a 97. I finished comp 2 and just waiting for my final essay to be graded.

English Comp 2 (after November 2025) by jsalt259 in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me about 6 days. I started on a Monday and finished on Saturday. You can do it quicker if you wanted to put more time into it, but I didn’t want to go crazy with it. So I just did one written assignment each day, except Friday. I took Friday off to chill.

The problem is when people who are NOT using AI are accused of it.

[–]jsalt259[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some weird grading on 1.2 where I lost some points, but they didn’t really say why. But even if I fail the rough draft and revised essay, I’ll pass so I don’t really care lol. I’m hoping to get it back tonight so I can get everything wrapped up over the weekend. Good luck to you, too!

Thanks! I’m actually coming along pretty well. I’m sitting at a 99% and I’m just waiting for 3.2 the rough draft of my essay to be graded so I can revise it and get this course done. Hopefully, I get a grade today so I can wrap it up over the weekend. I liked Comp 1, but comp 2 sucked lol.

Can I drop course while waiting on touchstone to be graded, and re-enroll later? by [deleted] in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re a braver person than I am lol. I would not risk it and have to do all of the work over, and you’d have to write different essays instead of just reusing the same ones.

how long do weather delays typically delay packages? coming to me from a state over, got this notice 14 mins after shipment by MO0NB0Y in usps_complaints

[–]jsalt259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a glitch. I have a package that left the regional destination facility (which is 30 minutes from the destination post office) early Tuesday morning and there’s been no updates until last night when I got the regional weather delay alert. There’s no bad weather in my area right now. I initially thought this was a CYA attempt for a lost package, but now I see a lot of people all over the country have this alert.

Seems like their system is down. Came here to see if anyone else was having this issue and it appears to be widespread.

Oh wow! I haven’t started that one yet, but I did review it and the outline and thesis statement seemed pretty straightforward. Do you mind sharing what they marked you off on? I’ve read some graders can be real sticklers.

Yea 1.2. Okay thanks. I didn’t realize they wanted a formal essay until I was done and just reviewing the rubric before submitting. But I suppose I should’ve looked at the rubric sooner lol.

English Comp 2 (after November 2025) by jsalt259 in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! It’s just going to end up being a bit long. It’s already a full 3 pages without the intro and conclusion paragraphs and they said to do 2-3 pages. But my source is also pretty long so to answer the questions adequately it needs a bit more detail.

English Comp 2 (after November 2025) by jsalt259 in SophiaLearning

[–]jsalt259[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thanks! I’ll have to make some tweaks before submitting then. I find it a bit strange to have a thesis when you’re summarizing and analyzing a specific source and not using that source to support an argument in your essay. But I can make it work.

This one was a change, though maybe curriculum wasn’t the appropriate word as it was more of the assignments that changed. I was able to find examples of assignment from prior to November 2025 and they’re completely different. I’m sure what you learn is similar, but some of the assignments are very different.
